No word from the Dorset locals down 'ere....
Both EXT and BOH might have been logical advances for Jet2 but TUI have gone for some expansion at both these airports with almost 2 a/c now based for next Summer... Jet2 is the darling of the North (and STN seems to like them too) |
There are very few options for further Jet2 expansion south of BHX, either lack of peak season slots, lack of aircraft parking, insufficient runway length, passenger caps, movement caps and night restrictions all limit the available summer programme new airport choices to EXT, CWL, BOH. If current or pending planning applications are approved at LTN, STN, BRS, LGW and SOU, things might change, but none of these, if approved (far from certain), are likely to offer suitable new capacity in short order. Meanwhile the established IT market is being increasingly pushed to long haul at LGW, the exception being the new EZY activity, which has yet to prove its worth. There have been rumours of a BOH Jet2 base of 4-6 aircraft for some time. Lastly Jet2 have recently purchased the TC slots at STN, BHX, and MAN. But interestingly not BRS, where EZY was successful. In my view that makes CWL, BOH, EXT more likely, my betting has always been BOH will be next and will be in 2021 FF |

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has taken on more than 120 former Thomas Cook staff.
The appointments include more than 50 pilots, 20 engineers, and almost 40 cabin crew members, who have accepted offers of training and after successful completion will join the company in time for summer 2020. Thomas Cook Group, including the UK tour operator and airline, collapsed into liquidation in September. Following the collapse, Jet2 has held a series of roadshows designed specifically for ex-Thomas Cook colleagues in Manchester, Peterborough, Birmingham Airport and London Stansted Airport, as well as overseas. The company said it could employ a further 50 pilots by the end of February 2020, taking the total number of ex-Thomas Cook recruited pilots to more than 100. Alongside more than 20 engineers from Thomas Cook who have accepted offers to join the company, there are plans to fill a further 50 engineering posts. Almost 40 cabin crew from Thomas Cook have also been offered training at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, with the largest influx being at Manchester Airport where 20 cabin crew have received offers. There are also further candidates being offered places on the training scheme Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: "With an ever-growing programme, with new destinations and more aircraft being added to our fleet, it is a very exciting time for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays. We expect to recruit even more ex-Thomas Cook employees and look forward to welcoming them in the near future, as our company continues to grow." |
Jethros now reporting that the 7x A321’s will be a split of ex DE and TCX machines! D-ATCA D and E plus G-TCDP (also ex DE) plus three others. You would assume then that one would be G-TCDR with two more left to be identified. They will be registered G-HLY* |

G-TCDH A321 is with Air Transat at the minute as C-GTZX. Is this just for the winter and then the aircraft will go onto Jet2?
