It has been known for a while that Backbone will operate the rest of Powdairs flights but this announcement refers to the internal flights by the leased Adria Switzerland Saab, last week Powdair announced that they had cancelled intentions of flying from Sion to Zurich and the deal with Adria Switzerland was off.
I don't think Adria Switzerland will exist as an entity once the Ethihad investment stopped! Incidentally Powdair have recently bought 25% of Backbone Aviation A/S registered in Denmark. Powdair are still using the CR200 but as far as LCY is concerned I don't know what aircraft they intend to use. |

I'm aware of that but when I wrote 'that it's been known for a while' I was meaning the last few weeks since the Adria code was cancelled.

Old friend returns.
With the end of the contract Cityjet had with the Danish ATR42 operator for the Antwerp flights, who should resume the route but good old VLM, using one of the same F50s, still in the same livery, that were such a feature of LCY in past years. |

Eastern Airways 170
British Airways Cityflyer are leasing an Embraer 170 from Eastern Airways for the period 22nd JAN - 24th MAR 2018. The aircraft will be based at LCY and will be used on the following flights.
BA7301/BA7302 - LCY-LIN-LCY (Mon-Sat) BA4455/BA4456 - LCY-RTM-LCY (Mon-Fri) BA7305/BA7306 - LCY-LIN-LCY (Sun-Fri) Not sure where the aircraft is going to after its spell at BACF. |
VLM are reducing the frequency on its ANR flights from 19 x weekly (4 x Daily Thu/Fri, 3 x Daily Mon-Wed, 2 flights on Sun) to 16 x weekly (3 x Daily Mon-Fri, 1 flight Sun) from the start of the S18 schedule (25MAR18)

London City Airport closed due to 'emergency incident'
London City Airport has been closed and surrounding roads shut due to an 'emergency services incident'. Transport for London said the airport was shut and said road closures were in effect. The transport authority said in a tweet: "The airport has been closed due to an emergency services incident. There are also additional local road closures due to the incident. Traffic is light in the area." The exact nature of the incident is not yet known. |

Looks like an unexploded bomb from WWII.
Police are responding to a World War Two ordnance in the River Thames at George V Dock, E16. The ordnance was discovered as part of pre-planned work at London City Airport and reported to the police at 05:06hrs on Sunday, 11 February. Specialist officers and the Royal Navy have attended and confirmed the nature of the device. The operation to remove the ordnance is ongoing in partnership with our colleagues in the Royal Navy. At 22:00hrs an operational decision was made with the Royal Navy to implement a 214-metre exclusion zone to ensure that the ordnance can be safely dealt with whilst limiting any risk to the public. There will also be disruption to inbound and outbound flights during the operation. London City Airport are urging passengers to contact their airline before travelling. |

A 214m exclusion zone is a rather precise number. So while 215m is a safe distance 214m isn’t.

Looking like all CityJet flights to and from Dublin, are operating from Southend, but still giving passengers the option of a refund or change flight too.
Any other City Airport operators with aircraft not based at the airport, diverting to another airport today? |
Navpi - I did hear from my father that quite a few exploded between 1939 and 1945!

Not apparent where the bomb (and thus the exclusion radius) actually is. Media say it's in the Thames, but also that it was discovered during LCY building works - which are not near the Thames. Not unknown for journalists to call the docks "The Thames" though.
