It would depend on how busy the northside of the airport is. Usually you will see a number of Ryanair’s parked around the back behind the Fuel farm and sometimes parked infront of Inflites hangers. But I doubt it’ll be the latter as we seem to have a increaseing number of biz jets movements currently.

I was wondering this same thing but about Titan and the companies expansion plans regarding more and larger aircraft

canberra97 11th Oct 2017 22:46

If you have a look on Google Earth you can see how BHX and STN compare with apron areas and it will give you a good idea of how much space is available at each airport.

More v good news...Three destinations not already covered & new for Stansted`s departure screens..
XK/CCM fleet appears to be 5xA320 + ATR`s.

whitelighter 12th Oct 2017 17:47

FR are parking 25 airframes at STN this winter.
More than they have ever parked before.

Bearing in mind they have to fly them every 5 days it's going to keep the tug crews busy

southside bobby 12th Oct 2017 17:59

To make it clearer perhaps to readers they will undoubtedly NOT be all from the STN fleet but from all bases as previous Winter`s when RYR have stored @ STN..As whitelighter states they are rotated in service & it is easier to achieve thus at the largest base.
Yes it will keep the tug drivers busy + the "rangers" providing escort together with ATC in continuous crossings of the R/W from Terminal to North side storage & VV.

Coincidently relating to conservations with LAX LHR yesterday, there is a local article today about the new STN CEO in which it states STN`s annual pax total is on track to overtake MAN sometime during MAG`s next financial year.
The only caveat from myself is that statement is not in quotes as in other parts of the article.
I guess tho it would have been sanctioned before print.Late next year, early 2019 will be the telling time perhaps.
It also states MAG intend to invest £600m in Stansted.

Corsica

Until now the island has been really underserved from London and fares have been eye-watering. It must represent a tripling of capacity come September.

Fares seem to start at £103.40. Magically, EZY seem to be charging the same over at LGW. Funny how they wanted over £400 a fair way in advance when I looked at going there in a previous summer.

daz211 12th Oct 2017 18:54

Things are move very fast with new airlines and routes from STN I’m starting to lose track good to see some unserved destinations in the mix I’m still hoping for a few more before summer and hopefully Jet2 will add VCE and FCO in the future TSF and CIA just aren’t good enough anymore for STN in my opinion but guess we will have to see if the Alitalia thing happens

southside bobby 12th Oct 2017 19:29

Getting on...my reckoning makes it four new airlines for 2018 so far....Primera..Wow Air..
Air Mediterranean & Air Corsica for a total of seven direct destinations with it appears two already served.
Re AZA..Hopefully the MON collapse will not remix the plans re availability of slots @ LGW.

STN406 12th Oct 2017 21:03

Looking at Air Corsica’s website looks like we could have 3 different A320’s on Saturdays !!!!

southside bobby 12th Oct 2017 21:07

Good statement....

Alsacienne 12th Oct 2017 21:47

And how will the Air Berlin demise/Lufthansa purchase affect STN?

canberra97 12th Oct 2017 21:53

I can't honestly see much change at STN because of the Lufthansa takeover of Air Berlin as I don't think it will have too much of an affect on the Eurowings operations at the airport.

I think it's safe to say alitalia will not be coming to STN anymore and will opt for LGW if the ex-MON slots are the right price.

All gone very quiet anyways.

Still fantastic news that Air Corsica is coming with quite a sizeable operation!

pamann 13th Oct 2017 06:13

And these LGW slots will probably have a hefty price tag attached. Could AZ actually afford them? I see them going to an airline with bigger cash reserves to be honest. It could mean that there's even more chance AZ will have to set up shop at STN if indeed the rumours of their LHR slot sale are true.

canberra97 13th Oct 2017 15:13

I was under the impression that AZ had already sold their LHR slots and the airline was still using them under a lease agreement, but I think any possible move will be to LGW now slots have become available due to the collapse of Monarch.

As to slots, are the former Monarch slots owned as everyone seems to state especially at LGW, is there any monetary value to these slots or are they just put back into the pool and redistributed to other airlines?

Buster the Bear 13th Oct 2017 18:26

Greybull will be hoping for a monetary value!

pamann 13th Oct 2017 18:52

I have heard that the slots will go back in the pot, though if there's a monetary value to them I can't see AZ having deep pockets to buy them. I wouldn't right off AZ just yet but of course it's all speculation.
