i know they were thinking about it, so it’s now Confirmed? Do you have a link / schedule info or equipment info ?

STN406 28th Dec 2019 04:10

The flights up for sale on their website.

AI133 BOM 09:00-14:00 STN
AI132 STN 15:30-05:50 BOM

Operating on Monday, Thursday and Sunday all three on B788’s. Another brilliant addition for Stansted. I’ve heard from a friend at Swissport that Air India are happy so far and are looking to add more routes and frequency.

AirportPlanner1 29th Dec 2019 10:16

It shows how far STN has come that a new route from Air India is met with almost indifference!

I for one think STN is better suited to Air India than LGW (or LTN for that matter even if the runway was sufficient) because of its links to Cambridge and the east London tech sector. I’m also in no doubt though they will be away as soon as slots become available at LHR.

Air India

Absolutely fantastic news regarding Air India's expansion at STN. MAG certainly have done wonders turning the airport around from its dire BAA ownership, and its great to see long haul back at the airport- lets hope this is here to stay! As others have highlighted, it would be a great shame to lose these services to LHR, when such a strong catchment already exists at STN. I wonder what other long haul services and airlines we can expect to see at STN in the near future?

Pegasus

New direct services to Ankara, Antalya and Dalaman to launch for Summer 2020:
Ankara (31st March; 3x weekly)
Antalya (8th June; 2x weekly)
Dalaman (4th May: 1x weekly)

Plus extra flights to Istanbul-SAW and Izmir.

davidjohnson6 3rd Jan 2020 19:19

The Ankara timings look pretty grim. Land in Turkey at 0225 and depart Turkey at 0405.... think I'll give that a miss !

STN406 4th Jan 2020 01:26

Though it’s a current airline, it’s good to see some apart Ryanair or Jet2 adding more services. I honestly thought Pegasus would increase soon, the amount of extra flights they’ve added them over the festive period was a good sign. Glad to see Ankara coming back on the flight board, this will go daily quite soon in my opinion.

Back at Stansted again and, as usual, abysmally slow through security. Four security lanes non operational. Such a consistently awful airport experience here.

you must just be unlucky, I usually get through in 10 minutes and I use the airport most weeks.

4 out of 22 lanes out that’s quite good. Even in peak summer it’s rare to see every single lane being utilised at the same time. And if you know you don’t like the experience or don’t like to queue may I suggest buying a fast track ticket ?

Maybe I am unlucky. But then I must be lucky every time I use any other London airport. Also, I never used to be unlucky at Stansted until MAG took over. I chatted with the staff, as I'm sure they have a stressful time, and they said that they regularly fail to balance resource to demand. Although they said MAG were good to work for otherwise. And of course I could pay for fast track but why should I pay extra for poor management? It was 45 minutes to get through security today.

Expressflight 5th Jan 2020 07:13

I was through STN security in the early evening the Saturday before Christmas in around 10 minutes, so maybe jdcg was just unlucky. Coming home from VIE I had to wait for 30 minutes before the individual pre-Gate security there was even manned - not so good.

Looks like Tui’s Skiathos flight on a Friday has been scrapped this summer. Now set to start in Summer 2021 instead. By doing so they have brought the Enfidha flight back in-house for 2020.

Flights to Skiathos are available with Jet2 however.

Lots of new Greek destinations set to appear on the departure boards this summer. Many are firsts for the airport.

davidjohnson6 6th Jan 2020 21:55

Pamann - are those new Greek routes simply Jet2 moving the seat miles that Thomas Cook flew from Sussex to Essex ?

What does it matter?

It’s a win for the airport.
