3 hrs 35min delay on BE3063 to La Rochelle from BHX.
I believe the E75SG-FBJA went tech when inspected early morning-substituted (eventually) by Dash G-JEDP
€250 compensation all round for this flight, and the delayed pax at La Rochelle.
Expensive day for Flybe

Dash G-JEDP due to arrive BHX from Belfast but then diverted to CVT (Coventry) before repositioning back to BHX to operate the La Rochelle flight.
Plot thickens-I've seen other Flybe (only) divert to CVT-anyone know the reasoning-certainly not weather.

Have you checked it wasn't a FR24 glitch? For example, they often erroneously show aircraft that have landed at LCY as having been diverted to SEN.

bhx bod 20th Aug 2017 17:17

FR24 CVT diverts.

It is indeed a common problem on FR24 to show flights diverting to CVT from BHX.
Flybe flights especially get this treatment on a regular basis. I guess it is due to the ADS-B feed is lost on certain aircraft once they get below a certain height,or,before they get to a certain height in the climb.Flybe Dash8Qs and ERJs regularly show up as diverting to CVT.Possibly because CVT is relatively close to the final approach to BHX on rwy33,the FR24 computer or whatever it is guesses that because the feed is lost at this point it assumes the flight has landed at the nearest airfield which is CVT.

lfc84 20th Aug 2017 20:39

i noticed on fr24 last week that it claimed a stobart atr operating for flybe had diverted to CEG rather than land in LPL

Challenging days ops yesterday at MAN with two full blown emergencies on the Q400 fleet However well contained by all and minimum disruption to the days programme

Well done guys..

More postive news in that it looks certain we are now taking outsouced work back in house as it should be

lfc84 3rd Sep 2017 15:09

can you quantify mininum disruption please? have on knowledge of events - just curious

bodminsteve 3rd Sep 2017 17:23

It means the issues were resolved with minimum disruption to our customers...what else?

According to the CAA stats ABZ has grown by roughly 7 % each month but obviously no way of knowing who's planes are the fullest. EDI-LHR has grown by roughly 13% each month.

Seen a reply from a Tweet that BHX-LUX will be dropped completely after 28th October. MAN still under review apparently.

I think that Hamburg going daily has used these aircraft rotations from BHX

That would appear to be a good move, never saw the point of BHX/LUX. HAM ought to be a more robust route.

once again TITAN 737.700 standing in for a KNACKERED flybe jet ..twice in 4 days, who pays for this ..STOBART OR FLYBE?

If it's Southend then I'm guessing Stobart. At least they got the routes covered and haven't cancelled them.

mikkie4 4th Sep 2017 23:37

TITAN

sorry that should have been a 300 not a 700

brian_dromey 5th Sep 2017 06:10

In fact, I believe it would be flyBe, as they have been hired to operate the flights. The flights are Stobart Air flights, but they have chartered flyBe to operate them. The flights also happen to be operated as a flyBe franchise, which is a separate agreement.
When the "KNACKERED" 195s join Stobart it will then be up to Stobart to sort IRROPS.

Jerry123 5th Sep 2017 07:20

Stobart Air have wet leased the aircraft from Flybe so I'd have thought that it would be done to Stobart to find a replacement if it went tech. If it was Flybe's responsibility then they'd use there own aircraft as cover not bring in Titan Airways. At CWL when the aircraft go tech it's always a Flybe aircraft as a replacement not an ACMI airline.

Reversethrustset 5th Sep 2017 10:02

Jerry, technically you're wrong. They'll only use Flybe aircraft if a Flybe aircraft is available. Stobart are paying Flybe for a service, it's up to Flybe to provide that service.

JobsaGoodun 5th Sep 2017 18:54

I would have expected Stobart to have paid for Titan. It's worth bearing in mind that they'd not have had to pay for Flybe to provide the service if Titan did it instead. No doubt there is some commercial clause that might enable them to claim something from Flybe, but it's very likely to be based on an average monthly performance than a one off period of disruption.

bmaviscount 6th Sep 2017 06:20

Do you think there is any chance of Flybe/blue islands taking up the GCI to LCY route when aurigny pull out. Would not a triangular routing with JER work?

I'm concerned about the sheer amount of a/c going tech. I am considering trying their re-ignited DUB service but being honest if this is the trend then I can't see myself using Flybe at all.
Potentially looking like SEN mgt have backed the wrong horse in Flybe. Wonder if the Cityjet talks can restart?

Expressflight 6th Sep 2017 07:11

Of course that's the trouble when people start to use colourful language to describe an unserviceability.

I doubt that the Flybe EMB195s suffer more unserviceabilities than comparable airline fleets and in recent weeks on time performance has generally been very good for all three SEN-based aircraft operating the Flybe timetable. The fact that Flybe have been able to substitute a Titan aircraft rapidly both times they had a tech problem recently is reassuring. If they cancelled flights instead of doing so I would be more concerned regards flying with them in future.

I'll give them a go and see for myself what the performance is like in the real world.

Reversethrustset 6th Sep 2017 08:03

I fly the Embraer for Flybe and in nearly 3 years I've gone tech whereby it's caused a delay, twice. The Embraer is very, very reliable and if there's been a little spate in SEN then they've been very unlucky.

Jerry123 6th Sep 2017 08:27

I've flown with Flybe out of Cardiff a couple of times now and never had a problem. They are a good airline.

davidjpowell 6th Sep 2017 22:38

Use them out of Doncaster (Embrear's). From a poor start, they have recovered nicely.... Certainly no worse than other airlines.

In that list of around 50 Flybe incidents over the past six years there are only two relating to the EMB195. So your point is?

cumbrianboy 7th Sep 2017 16:23

And of the 3 EJet instances, 2 were primarily related to crew illnes which have nothing to do with the aircraft.

01475 7th Sep 2017 20:38

And while it's fashionable for this thread to make flyBe out to be the horrorstruck unreliable airline of the UK... on a statistical basis they're not.
