In northern Tibet, the Nagqu airport, now under construction, will claim the crown when it opens at an elevation of 14,554 feet.

Only 3 miles? :)

The runway is nearly as long as its altitude.

I suppose it would take some acclamation for a human to deal with that altitude to do any major physical work.
That is well above the tree line in most locations of the world.

Is there a max flap extension altitude on the A-318/19/20/21?
