Cancelling a flight-Refunds
 

I've got a flight booked on Easyjet tomorrow but I don't need it anymore. Now in their T's & C's they say that they operate a no refund policy.

Earlier in the year I had a similar situation with BA where I was allowed to cancel the flight. I lost the ticket price but the portion of it that was for tax's I was refunded minus a fee.

Now I always believed that the airline were collecting the tax's on the airports/governments behalf and that if I didn't fly then this wasn't needed and I could claim it back.

I do notice that on a BA ticket there is a breakdown of the tax's and fuel charges etc but Easyjet are missing this. Is it all in the wording, are Easyjet charging me for the ticket and covering the tax's themselves thereby allowing themselves to keep everything in the case of a cancellation/no show?

Easyjet are good enough to allow me to change my tickets for a fee. But this fee is £35 per sector so £70 for a return flight meaning that it is more expensive than just buying a fresh ticket. How is £70 per rtn flight justified I have to do all the work and a standard booking charge is £9. So why is it so inflated for a change?

They offer two products. The headline cheap fares and a changeable "flexi" fare it sounds like you went for the cheap option then expect the full price product.

Check condition 6.5 regarding the APD.

rareair- I didn't go for a cheap fare and expect a full price product. Surely the headline fare is the full price fare and the flexi an additional superior product. That aside at the time of my booking there was only one fare available and that is what I took. £200 return from Luton to Paris. There was no Flexi fare offered.

I wasn't complianing about anything I thought I was just asking 2 questions.

1. How come the refund policy's differ are there no set rules?

2. Why is it £9 per booking at Easyjet and £35 per changed sector?

I did call customer services and was told that Easyjet offer a no refund policy. I asked what other options I had and was told that I could cancel the flight but would get no refund, or I could change the flight for a fee. I then asked what happened with my taxes at which point I was then told that I could get a refund of the taxes which totalled £17.04. I went ahead with this option but I find the scripted wording terrible it was made to sound as though there was nothing that I could get back until I specifically asked about taxes. I believe many people wouldn't have asked and would have missed out.
