Very interesting.....lets hope they are considering other soon to be ex-LGW routes.

runway08 5th Nov 2013 23:45

I figured they would be first up to replace Aranns old routes also.

That's a very interesting post LGS. Thanks.

I love the fact that Martin has very clearly stated he wants the content of that letter keep out of the public domain. Yet it has been plastered across the internet for the whole world to see! Well done GCI government! Classic!:ugh:

I see the summer 2014 schedule has now been fully released. With a 6am departure to Bourgas everyday from the middle of june, this must mean the return of the summer based aircraft, which didnt happen this year

Very encouraging news about Flybe & a potential Guernsey route. This seems to make perfect sense given the overall reduction in seats available on to the island when their Gatwick services end & has every chance of success. I'm particularly pleased to see they're proposing a year round service.

It would be good if this is the start of an increased commitment to Luton by Flybe in the future. I don't see why they can't work towards restoring year round flights to both Isle of Man & Jersey and hopefully increasing frequencies, especially in summer.

Waterford is an obvious choice for another new route from Luton. Surely this has to happen sooner rather than later?

As for Flybe's other soon to be former Gatwick routes, I wonder if they might try a Luton to Newquay service too?

Does the pond become Airliner parking before Sigs is complete?

I still don't understand how that is all going to work. All their planes are going to be mish mashed all over the place. Toeing them will cause chaos.

Unless I have been informed incorrectly?

Yes a Flybe route until the runway is extended at which time Ryanair will be onto Stansted and hence returning to its beginnings, i.e. the airport its first flight operated from...

Can't they try Belfast & Inverness as well? - sorry Newquay I can't see.

OLNEY 1 BRAVO 7th Nov 2013 11:16

Pabely - I can't see either Belfast or Inverness being flown out of Luton by Flybe given that easyJet already fly on the routes.

Incidentally, I see that Boeing737-8's assertion that a 787 was due to visit yesterday (despite those who really knew saying otherwise) turned out to be false. No surprise there then.

easydan319 7th Nov 2013 12:19

Just looked at the Wizzair Sum 14 timetable from Luton. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays there will be 33 departures and arrivals!! (28 Tues, 30 Thurs)

Monarch - Sharm El Sheikh

Anyone know how full the new Monarch - Sharm El Sheikh route went out with today?

I am just curious as I am due to fly this route in early December, and reading on Trip Advisor, a number of Monarch flights from the likes of Birmingham, Gatwick and Manchester have been merged together...

I could be mistaken and these might be charter flights.

It is quite a risky time for the likes of Monarch launching a route like Sharm El Sheikh, with the on-going issues in Egypt (the Sinai Peninsular is considered safe). Especially when they are launching it and using an A321 on the route, and there are already established carriers flying the route.

I have also hearing many of the hotels in the resort are half empty too.

The loss of 4 x LGW - Belfast City routes whereas EZY fly International.
Inverness better business times, EZY moved capacity which used to use LTN.

I agree with pabely about BHD. I reckon the route could sustain a couple of daily E175 flights, alongside the easyJet flights to BFS

Not so sure about Inverness. Realistically how much demand is there?

I thought there was talk of subsidies for a Newquay to London route?? hence why I suggested it might be worth a try from Luton given the only other service is likely to be a seasonal easyJet flight but I agree its a bit of a long shot.

With regards to the GCI application, does anyone know how long these typically take & would there be any logical reason not to agree to it?

Buster the Bear 7th Nov 2013 16:24

Just shows how switched on I am, I thought easyJet still operated the route to Inverness from Luton? I remember one of their 200's with Nessie on the side.

I thought that G-TUIC aka DreamBuster was due in yesterday for the TUI folk to climb all over? I spent quite an number of hours inside that airframe and it did not break once! HUD was a suprise.

33 Wizz return per day.......BLIMEY!

I don't remember an Aeroflot TU134 at Luton in 1984, mind you I had just met Mrs Buster, so my mind was elsewhere! No doubt the real Buster and Luton Relic remember it well, Olney could probably tell me why it arrived (I am guessing football)?

22/04 7th Nov 2013 18:06

Buster Easy do still operate LTN-INV but around the middle of the day - I think the speculation was around business friendly times.

I don't think it was taken at Luton. The blast defectors could only be the run up bay but there are no woods opposite the runway there.
