2013
Over the next 12 months I think in my opinion:
BE reduce frequency on LGW or cut it altogether EIR will arrive and launch new routes to Bristol, Edinburgh Cork and Liverpool? BA maybe reduce frequency in LHR Maybe get a new european carrier (Germanwings for e.g.) and possibly an AMS route ? EI will launch new sun routes to ALC, IBZ and BCN ? It would be great if BE relaunched the Doncaster route... Why did they drop it in the first place ? I always thought it done well... |
Friend at Ryanair says Oleary is flying into one of the Belfast airports tomorrow on company aircraft. Anyone else heard of this?
RYR at BFS or BHD
Is BHD not at the point of where they can't allow anymore airlines in as they already have BE planes parked at the old parking bays. I don't think O'Leary would like he's planes sitting at the old parking bays. My bet would be BFS if they will come to NI tomorrow. We will just have to wait and see what happens! :)

I cant see it being City, maybe mol has kissed and made up with aldergrove?
Has the seats for sale issue been dealt with yet or is Aldergrove still poking their nose in? Having said that, one of the local taxi drivers told me City are making new stands where the old terminal was that are capable of taking A321s and B738s, why would they invest in something like that if they weren't going to use it to its full potential? |
Having said that, one of the local taxi drivers told me City are making new stands In fairness the taxi drivers at both the airports have in my experience a bizarre angle on what's actually going on. My most recent conversation with one at BHD was that Flybe is about to go out of business and will just disappear like bmibaby, and 'that's why BHD paid AerLingus to come in' and another had it that BA was bringing back its LHR BHD route, and was adamant that BA did operate LHR in the past ex BHD. Another told me BA is back and it had pulled out of BHD overnight when one of its planes crashed at EMA (ref to Kegworth)... all of the above clearly wide of the mark!! EI-BUD |
To be fair if FR came back, they don't necessarily have to base at BHD. An ac can position in early in morning, I think a Preswick could come in and be ready to dept to somewhere like STN at 7 like most flights from BHD
BHD2BFS;
I can't see FR coming back to BHD for same reasons as they left; yield widely reported as awful, restriction on pax no. per ac, runway etc. PIK was a diabolical route in terms of loads, yield and fares. If it is either it will be BFS, they need it more at this time... So likely to lay out the family jewels to get the business.... EI-BUD |
Coming into BHD.
Arriving 1200 and departing again 1320. Arrive and Departing to Stansted. REG - M-ABEU http://s9.postimage.org/3zjtdk9u7/ryr.png |
I'll be amazed if this is a deal being done in such a public way, I would have thought any negotiations would have been done in private.
If in the unlikely event of another Ryanair stint in Norn Iron I would again ask is it because City management is so good or simply that Aldergrove management couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery? Incidentally the taxi driver I was talking to was spot on in his information about extra stands. I was speaking to my source at City and they said surveying is almost complete at the old terminal area and work is imminent and should be complete before the summer schedule. |
Maybe they'll put up a marquee on the old terminal site and call it the ryanair terminal
Also looking at the BA time table, by looks of things they have 2 night stopping aircraft, is this right? And if so where is the 2nd being parked? Is there space currently? |
Some stables maybe a better idea.....;)
Yes there was a BA aircraft night stopping on the taxiway on Wednesday night as i passed. |
two ba night stoppers have been here for a week or so and for the last month or so on a saturday night, the second parks over at bombardier, not on the taxiway
On some days this second overnighter was the 8th flight of the day. Flight number of it was out of sequence, I would take it that this was an extra sortie for Christmas demand ??
EI-BUD |
The 2nd night stopper is planned until the 10th jan then a week with 1 ns then back to 2 night stoppers from the 17th until 3rd feb where there will continue to be 2 based ns every Saturday night after that.
I see RYR01 inbound to City again, more horses..???
Or the start of a love in to pee of ei
Some good news from last months CAA figures, growth on LHR,LGW,MAN(despite new competition),LBA, CWL,INV. Some drops here and there but excellent in a time of austerity and civil unreast in Belfast. Lets hope the figures continue to grow in 2013 and peace prevails.
Where is EI 37 going to end up tonight? Its ETA is 2300. Better clear that tumbleweed off the runway at BFS?
They can land up to 23:59 at BHD :)
Cheers BFS BHD I was about to say that!
Just checked the website and EIN is at its limit at BHD of a estimated at 23:59 looks like its going to go to BFS or DUB. Also BE428 is estimated at 23:30 so it may go to BFS too.
Looks like he may just make it in time for BHD up in the air.
EI 37 is over Runcorn heading Belfast now 23.24
It ought to suit the old dragon really, after all running out of de-icer should help her cause!
Don't the de-icing trucks there have form for driving into aircraft? Midland(rip) if memory serves:E:E
much safer on easy street where all the planes in the playground are bright orange.......................;)
thats a hazard of driving around a congested ramp There's skill for you...and the no claims bonus fooked :hmm: At least we got to see the Beluga bringing in the bits...BFS of course. |
Flybe
With BE announcing 300job to go, will there be any reductions in services from BHD?
MAN and LBA look strong, cant see any reduction on these routes, but weakness maybe on EMA and BHX? Any inside information welcome |
From the other threads and news media, I would say the vulnerable routes would be Cardiff, Newcastle and potentially Gatwick. Hopefully none of these routes will be pulled, esp Gatwick. Fingers crossed we get off lightly...
Think it was the bbc local news on their website stating 15 job losses at BHD. Whether accurate or not, unsure. On reading other articles, would appear to be more head office, support jobs, but rumours that ticket desk staff may be at risk. |
The staff reductions will come from based staff at Newcastle, Manchester and Exeter head quarters. They are making no route closures as part of it.
Are you sure there's not like one or two? something like IOM - LPL may be something that may get chopped. BE already serve IOM - MAN at a greater frequency and now EZY serves LPL up to twice a day making them in terms of seat capacity rather close now to BE on the route.
BFS101
Agree I would like to see LGW continuing as it is good for onward connections, CWL I think will still be there as no other airline operates this route, although from reading reports coming out of Wales it sounds like they may be reducing. Newcastle figures have been disappointing so if any route is likely to be axed NCL is favourite |
I think the removal of IOM-LPL could be an option since it seems a little pointless now (having said that, I am unsure on how well that particular route performs for BE) and transfer a chunk if not all operations from LGW to STN for reasons I've stated before. The latter option could certainly be an option for saving a fair bit of cash!

BA1418
Any news of why diverted to BFS?
Well thats what BE have said themselves so its as good as their word.
Any news of why diverted to BFS?
Brake problems.
So there is a need after all for BFS and its longer runway!!!!!!
Either that or another couple hundred feet of concrete towards Hollywood.:ok:
Why not extend city bound by two miles, then the terminal could be in the centre of Belfast therefore people could say that BHD was a city centre airport as opposed to the 17 miles up the M2 to BFS!!!!
Noooo, not over Victoria Park!!:ooh:
