Wrong.

Wherever MIDC came from, and then left for on its Geneva trip saturday it wasn't Dublin.

parky747 8th Feb 2010 10:57

The BD utilisation of aircraft to/from DUB is very bad to put it lightly!
So what do you suggest BMI do with the a/c, fly them around empty everywhere?

The only reason the schedules are as they are is to protect LHR slots for when the market becomes more buoyant once again!!

Van G 8th Feb 2010 16:15

I think you'll find it did a Geneva charter Saturday followed by a Grenoble Charter Sunday from LGW. Loads seemed pretty good.

Nubboy 8th Feb 2010 18:26

Much more like it.....:ok:

EC-ILS 8th Feb 2010 19:01

DUB-GVA was/is an A319, I think that A319 may also be doing a weekend charter to FUE soon aswell.

starbag 8th Feb 2010 23:09

Parking at DUB is considerably cheaper than parking at LHR, so the DUB long stops actually reduce costs for bmi while protecting LHR slots.

CarltonBrowne the FO 9th Feb 2010 17:02

In the short to medium term, loads on a charter are irrelevant- the charter company pays for the flight, and has to worry about ticket sales meeting the cost.
In the long term, we hope the charter company makes a profit- or they won't be chartering aircraft any more!

The Heathrow slot set-up and the wasteful, stupid practices it encourages is bizarre.

Which is just as well for bmi.

Seljuk22 21st Feb 2010 08:28

From 28th March bmi will take over 3 daily LH flights to Cologne with A319.

Mr Flaps 21st Feb 2010 08:59

Think you may find that it will be Midland ac like the current TXL and MXP routes. But LH (Menzies) check it in, board it and do all the ticketing. And its Midlands crews that just op the flight on behalf of LH. Cos BD do have some spare airframes to deal with. Unless they are handing some back soon.

I may be wrong. Pls say so if i am.

A colleague of mine says that bmi are operating Frankfurt on behalf of DLH...............any truth in this??

frontcheck 21st Feb 2010 10:58

Yes, some FRA flights planned to be operated by BD only during the duration of the LH strike, if/when it goes ahead.

Slightly off topic, I am looking for some assistance in locating some lost property, that was left on the BD131 LHR-DUB yesterday, 20/02.

Don't know of there is any of you that are based out of DUB (I assume dublin.dispatch may be???) that could ask around?

I

LHR-HAM summer 2010: 3 daily LH B733 + new: 1 daily bmi A319

airhumberside 25th Feb 2010 10:34

Is that a normal bmi service (as with HAJ/VIE) or a wet lease (as with TXL/MXP)?

firstchoice7e7 25th Feb 2010 23:49

I was looking at flying TXL-LHR in march/april, and noticed Bmi have an extra rotation on the route departing at 9pm aprox, so now 4 daily as opposed to 3 daily. This flight is operated as a bmi flight (BD848) rather than a lufthansa operated by bmi flight.

Seljuk22 26th Feb 2010 18:15

The 'new' flights to CGN (replacement from LH B735 to BD A319) and HAM have LH flight numbers - wet lease.

stormin norman 1st Mar 2010 07:09

Don't know about new routes but i hear 100 pilots, 600 cabin crew and some engineers are being directed out of the door over the next few weeks-very sad

Van G 1st Mar 2010 09:08

The picture isn't so bad now. No cabin crew going until October, and then it will be more like 47.

10 flight deck going now sadly and another 14 at risk in October.

So the figures have come right down. Although it's hard to know how many jumped before they were pushed.
