Good Luck to Jon Horne in whatever he chooses to do next, the airport has changed radically in the time he has been at the helm. The detractors should look at the place as it was to where it is now. What a lot of people wont see is the huge investment that went on behind the scenes not just that in the public places, the increase in passengers and also a confidence that didn't exist back in 2000.
Lets hope the new MD will also push the place even further forward

I recall reading a press release from Hugh Boyle at the launch of the Summer 08 season on sale stating that zoom were focussing on cutting back services that needed to make stops en-route with exception of the new LGW - BDA - JFK route.

this could be why YVR is not on sale yet from CWL.
The 767-300 can't make YVR non-stop without restrictions from CWL.

The last flight I took on this route, was majority of the pax getting on in CWL last year and most very happy with the route even via BFS.

I was talking to someone in work yesterday and they said that the aiport police (armed) are going to have a new station built at the airport instead of using the cabins near the old alpha building. The plan is to also have 2 dogs based there, one for sniffing out drugs and the other for fake cash.

Has anybody else heard of the new police station being built and where it's location will be?

Anyone know when they going to start expanding both the NCP car parks and the staff car parks? They both seemed to be very full this year.

Really? Thomson and CUN have no problems. And they are about the same distance in terms of flight path / Flying time.
I know Zoom carry more cargo than TOM would to CUN, but would the restrictions be that great?
I'm not sure YVR would be popular enough to go direct.
I wonder if Zoom get any more 752's, if they will use it into CWL and possibly add 1 or 2 new routes like they have with BFS.
There seems to be alot of interest lately about the usage of 757's accross the pond.
If HB's aim is to have more direct routes, they would need a few more a/c, as i believe the majority of their flights either stop somewhere else in the UK or Canada, or there would be a number of frequency reductions.

Sad to see John Horne go, he's a nice approachable guy who you could tell had a passion for the airport.
Hopefully the new temp MD from Abertis themselves will notice the airport still needs alot more investment and may open the big wigs eyes!

It is a shame that the temp from ABERTIS will actually arrive after the summer season, it would be nice for him to see the airport when it's at it's peak times.

I hope JH's replacement will bring the developments forward a year or two.

Plans were mentioned a while ago that the police and airport fire service would have a joint emergency fire /police co-ordination building on the old alpha site.Also adding a fire lane up the echo taxiway.Doubt this will happen (sadly) but you never know,more likely the police station will.They need something!!

Interesting point about CUN and YVR.

I assume CUN picks up a payload restriction from CWL, but probably will not be too much as the route is not as long in the headwinds.

I think the YVR route path would be incurring far more headwinds.

If it is true that Zoom is struggling to find suitable available fleet to increase flights, then could it be possible for Zoom and GSM to consider a partnership with joint long haul operations.

Good news for Servisair, they have obtained the new Thomas Cook / My Travel contract at CWL

All flights by both TCX & MYT will now be handled by them as it used to be Aviance for TCX and Servisair for MYT.

Also huge amount of flights this weekend for the Rugby World Cup Quarter Final - some fun times ahead............hope it is not like the Heineken Cup re-lived though with the marquee as a temporary terminal !!!!!

When i left work yestersay late evening, i was told that more flights were still being accepted.

With wales being knocked out of the competition some flights had been cancelled. (Blueline + Bmi and maybe more).

Not sure exactly what is expected but i know it's going to be fun.

Between 1am and 4am on monday morning theres going to be at least 8 deps i heard.

Don't get too excited quite yet as according to the weather forecast for early saturday thick fog is expected so you might just have to arrange coach travel from the nearest airport with cat3 ILS

early saturday then that would mean that they would be bussed to Cardiff as the match is an 8pm K.O. at the Millenium Stadium.

Heineken Cup final is also in cardiff this season 24th or 25th May so will be another busy day ahead of us all then.

Airport verry busy today due to the rugby airlift. It;s nice to see the airport has re-opened all of echeo and removed then new temporary overflow car park. This has obviously allowed the airport to utilise all space that it can. BAMC is also being used for light a/c and i can see a Futura 738 (poss 736) parked in the corner.

Seems to have run very smoothly what i seen today with no problems at all.

Shame that Wales got knocked out cause it would have been an even busier week (pitty we can't be like this every day).
