Seems there is to be a bit of a shake up with some jobs at the airport.
The ASU (airside safety unit) is to go with people loosing there jobs and others in administration side of things. Sad to hear:(

ElSupremo 22nd Apr 2008 19:43

Wow, I remember this route as I flew on it about 15 years ago!

mathers_wales_uk 22nd Apr 2008 23:55

I thought i heared that Fire Section is to be contracted out. Radar is out again causing some delays, apparently T34645 was holding for approx 20 mins today.

Is there an actual cashpint at the airport now? I know they removed the one from Arrivals and Departure lounge, it is due to another contract instead of the Travelex.

Does anyone know..

What happened to the www.cwlfly.com/FIDSCOMPLETE.asp site?
Just getting a blank blue screen now, it was great showing both arr. and dep. on one screen plus it auto-refreshed after 4/5 minutes?
Thanks.

Cashpoints...

There is now a cashpoint facility in deps. The Serendipity site reminds me of Barry Island in the depths of winter - ie SHUT. It is lowering the whole tone of the area with the closed shutters and piles of tatty boxes blocking it up. Would this happen at BRS or elsewhere ? Also, certain members of staff are now harder to find as they're not ''fruit-machining'' - no, they're where they should be ie at work. :=

pipertommy 23rd Apr 2008 07:31

Ye looks like the Fire section may go also. 2 steps forward 3 back:{

mathers_wales_uk 23rd Apr 2008 11:06

The sooner they turn the whole of upstairs into airside the btter, then there will be only the need for one serendipity site, along with 1 world news. chances of more shops or better facility's. People will have to pass through security to get to the facility's and therfore should stop the straddlers turning up at the gate so late.

Is there any reason why the serendipity is shut and is it the one in the departure lounge or the one by info too?

Confirmed Must Ride 23rd Apr 2008 11:25

Serendipity also shut in BRS. Maybe company gone belly up?

Servisair are looking after a Cathay Pacific Airways B747-200 freighter on Monday direct to CWL from Hong Kong...............all in the FID's

Also I can see that XL Airways are back for Winter 2008 season with a weekly CWL-Sharm el Sheikh flight.

Lets hope there are a lot more routes to follow this summer & coming winter.

The CWL-YYZ have been served by Ward Air (747), Worldways (L10 & DC8), Nationair (747 & 757), Odyssey (757), Caledonian (L10), Air Transat (757, A310 & A330) and of course Zoom (757 & 767). Great to see two flights a week this year (peak season) plus the YVR route.

XL Airways have also extended their CWL-SFB route, one off in May/June then the usual 6 weeks followed a a one off in Oct/Nov - lets hope they do it all summer next year !!!!!

Bristol based Taffy 23rd Apr 2008 17:28

Cwl - Yyz

Don't forget the BEST Canadian airline - CPAir. :D

Dc-8-63 via Prestwick and Belfast.

Em0866 23rd Apr 2008 18:41

I've checked out Zoom's website (even tried booking a flights) but it only mentions the Monday flight via BFS. Can anyone shed any light on how they found out about the extra flight during the peak summer months please?:)

caaardiff 23rd Apr 2008 21:53

XL operating SSH on behalf of MYT&TCX. Holidays on sale on both MYT and TCX website. Thurs morning departure.

Newquay service...

What's happening to the ''Skybus to Newquay'' service ? It's always canx. It's still being heavily advertised as ''the quicker alternative to driving there'' but that IS the only way you WILL get to Newquay with this service -
on the Thomas Motors of Barry Bus.

One remembers another, deeply thought-out route, opened in a blaze of publicity et al when Air Wales launched, with great publicity, their weekly service to Norwich.

Why?:ugh:

MonkeyB 24th Apr 2008 08:37

TCX

Caaardiff,

TCX are also part basing for winter 08/09 with four flights a week to the canaries.

Don't forget the other one...

Norwich?
The other popular route was Swansea:D

Think I'll take the bus, Cardiff bus:rolleyes:

Clairvoyant, tomorrows Newquay Canx. (Fridays).

boyyo 24th Apr 2008 14:45

The Cathy Pacific 747 flight is coming to us, then going empty somewhere to be broken up, this info has come from Servisair,

Serendipity i was told has gone bust, hence shutters down and lights off, this has been closed for a couple of weeks now.

The Newquay service is on average cancelled 3 times a week, leaving the pax to go by road instead.

Good news of XL doing the SSH for winter months, fingers crossed we'll have some more routes by different carriers.

caaardiff 24th Apr 2008 14:53

The NQY service is often cancelled as there's no passengers booked on it either way. Loads havent really been more than 5.
There has been a few occasions where weather has caused the cancellations, either in Land End (IOS Base) or NQY, and the a/c type not the greatest in bad weather conditions.

Interesting the airport having a launch stand for the route the beginning of the week. 2 months into the flights operation!:D

boyyo 24th Apr 2008 14:58

Your right about the aircraft type, like you said not the best, and that would explain why it's cancelled.

Boyyo:ok:
