Ive heard this too about Central Wings and their x2 weekly flights - think they are going to be a B737-300 or B737-500.

Was not sure what destination it was going to be though - I thought it was Poznan or Krakow, but what the heck Lodz will do - at last something new for the departure board that is currently showing Palma, Palma and err Palma !!!!!

Lets hope it happens what with all these new routes ex BRS with both Easy Jet and Ryan Air.

Best of luck to Central Wings - how long before CWL management announce this route on their web page............lets hope it is sooner rather than later.

So who will handle Central Wings ??? Servisair or Aviance - I assume it will be Servisair as they seem to be getting quite a few new contracts and Aviance seem to be too busy with BMI baby

Lodz is a strange one, with CentralWings I would have at least excpected Warsaw first. Lodz only currently serves Paris, and Rome, not even London yet, quite strange. The article is todays date so we could expect and official announcment by the end of the week.

This a translation from one of the only polish- english sites I could find. Could anyone give us a better translation. Also in tranexp a respected site, as I dont know much of polish media?

@Smile!!!
Lodz has been served mostly by FR - with destinations like STN, DUB, EMA, LPL (new), SNN (ending). Now... what an awful translation! The sense is that "in two weeks a new surprise for tourists and business people from Lodz (will be announced/become official) - flights to British Cardiff, by Centralwings. The talks are in a final stage. At the moment is clear that they will take place twice a week, beg. Oct/Nov".
That's a local issue of a newspaper, I'd think that C0 (Centralwings) will enter CWL with more than 1 route at once (Lodz didn't inform about it, it's not their business).

Centralwings

Lodz is Polands second city and a strong business destination as well as a good route for the Polish of South Wales - it's also quite a nice place, I'd much rather a weekend in Lodz to Gadansk! Mrs MonkeyB is in Lodz monthly with work and currently has the choice of trecking to Stanstead or going via Amsterdam or Brussels.

I'd have thought that Lodz would have been on Tim Lee's radar for FFB.

Has Centralwings been confirmed yet or is it just a rumour about them at Cwl?

Smile!!! 26th Jul 2007 21:46

No its just a rumour at the moment, however it is speculated in a Lodz local paper to be announced within two week, with a new route by Centralwings to Cardiff from Lodz, see a few posts up for translation.

Franz Josef Strauss 26th Jul 2007 21:55

I am hearing that Cardiff will be having new services to Milan, Rome, Munich, Cologne and Berlin from this year.

It is from new German/Italien company which is forming very soon.

mathers_wales_uk 26th Jul 2007 22:03

I have read something regarding this German/Italian lo-Cost company named italianwings which will be a lo-cost arm of Lufthansa (if i'm correct).

Where have you received information regarding flights from?

4 engines 4 longhaul 26th Jul 2007 22:13

Ah nice to be back to some healthy rumours, seems as if everyone is flocking to cardiff as of late, all these new routes and airlines.

I remember reading in the TTG if thats the name:confused: about a possible new german/italian operator didnt say low cost though!, that is apparently going to tap into unproven markets, well CWL for instance, As with all things regarding new airlines we hope they come true but there is a sheer lack of substance with this, nothing of great importance on the internet either.

And also a nice bit of news on the centralwings route, but how will they cope with BRS, fr polish obsession:ok:

Franz Josef Strauss 26th Jul 2007 22:56

I believe that there will be service for Cardiff from Rome, Milan, Cologne and Berlin to start. Other destination may be added later.

CWL_Chris 27th Jul 2007 10:00

Not Germanwings by chance is it? They're owned by Lufthansa!

britmuc 27th Jul 2007 19:57

italianwings ... there was a report quite some time ago about LH setting up an italian lo-co : http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...d=avbwGH4tatT4

jetstream7 29th Jul 2007 12:42

Isn't Air One of Italy already closely aligned with LH?

Either there is already a ready made lo-co in Italy for LH, or if LH do their own thing, then Air One's future doesn't look to clever?

rossym 29th Jul 2007 14:59

Yep, Air One (According to their website) is "Partner of Lufthansa". Maybe it's them, and not this company called "Italianwings"

iflycwl 31st Jul 2007 18:11

I see from the Airport FID's that Aer Lingus have a huge programme between 05th October and 08th October with all of their fleet visiting CWL, A320,A321,A332 & A333 aircraft - all for the Rugby World Cup. Should be fun !!!!

Few delays today with both First Choice & Onur Air - both Aviance and Servisair have had their hands full. I think the Onur flight is subbed out to Omni Air with a B757 later on tonight.

What has happened to Central Wings - are more news ?

CWL has some serious catching up to do with BRS, check the BRS web news page, full of new airlines and destinations, then check CWL's and there is just news on the drop off zone & parking. Come on CWL have some interest and back any new planned routes like the Zoom JFK news which has now gone silent.:{

PeterP 1st Aug 2007 10:18

Sorry, Iflycwl, but I promise never to post any route announcement to cwlfly unless it's a done deal with the ink firmly dry. Sorry if this spoils anyone's fun!

4 engines 4 longhaul 1st Aug 2007 10:37

Well peterP one could ask are there any new routes that ink will dry on coming up fairly soon? At least put us out of out misery specualting:ok:

PeterP 1st Aug 2007 11:09

Oh, please keep speculating! Life just wouldn't be the same without a juicy rumour now and then.

cwl4eva 3rd Aug 2007 13:16

It is a tad dissaponting though that there hasn't been any announcement on new routes from baby or any success with new airlines like Centralwings. Maybe that Lodz rumour was simply untrue because its been a while now since that article yet they have announced most of their new routes for this season!

So it looks like Cwl will go another winter without some city routes, and crucially will let Brs gain a stranglehold in the Polish sector as well which should have been implemented from Cwl a while back.

4 engines 4 longhaul 3rd Aug 2007 13:25

There is a new anouncement on the airport website about three new routes from TOM but they are as expected through the FCA merger so no real news for us lot on here, yes it is rather fustrating that Bristol will now establish itself in the Polish market yet again knocking out out another new area CWl could have go into first, well well no surprise there yet again, but what gets me is why most of the airlines are chosing BRS i just dont understand.
