Dunno if anyone looks around on other threads, but if sleepy hollow international don't buck up some ideas they could go the same way as Coventry has done in the last week...

Especially if they keep turning down wide-body diversions like they do..

Anyone who knows which airlines (and a/c) have a nightstop at CWL (weekly)?

mathers_wales_uk 16th Dec 2009 16:41

2 X BmiBaby 737-300
1 x Tom 737-800
1 x TCX A320
1 x KLM F-70

Ocasional night stops are TCX 757 for SSH and TOM 767 for cruise flights

Flyglobespan - SFB

Another airline bites the dust and once agian this affects CWL. Will the management be actively seeking a replacement for the SFB service to start next year? TCX, TOM and Virgin are all increasing their services from Glasgow to Florida as a result of FlyGlobespans failure, could one of these not be routed via CWL as the original FlyGlobespans was? CWL used to have an excellent services to Florida and had done so for a number of years, yet these all disappeared over the bridge.

More bad news...ABZ discontinued: last service 15 February. :(

The airport is in a downwards spiral with Orlando, Belfast Intl, Barcelona and Aberdeen all lost within one fortnight. Reductions across the board with BE, WW, TOM, T3, TCX! Trust me at this rate we will become Durham Tees Valley take two......Well at least they can support an Aberdeen route.
I used to fly from Cardiff all the time and now I bearly fly from there once a year. I am flying to Palma in the summer with WW but don't know if that is even going ahead. Cardiff is losing out big time to Bristol and personally I prefer Bristol now-a-days as it's easy to get to, more destinations, and redevelopment is actually happening! At this rate Cardiff will whittle down to nothing with a few EDI, GLA and AGP routes. Kick out baby and bring in an airline that will make an effort!

Only 80,774 passengers were handled in Novemeber, down 19.4% on November 2008. With movements down 16.1%!

The 12 month rolling figure is 1,646,222, down 17.3% on a year ago. Which is nealy 500,000 people! It hasn;t been this low since 2002 when Bmibaby hadn't moved in yet. Fat lot of good they have done! Cardiff smashed through the 2 million barrier a few years ago and that will not be taken over again for a few years to come. This number will drop futher and I am not suprised if it hits a low of around 1,250,000 people.

WELSHGUY40 18th Dec 2009 17:01

cwl in big trouble its lost alot of pax and it cant afford to lose anymore pax routes or airline :ugh:

Wellington Bomber 19th Dec 2009 07:28

Planenut

What have T3 reduced?

And what were the average figures on the Logiebear ABZ service

horsebox 19th Dec 2009 09:46

I think Loganair have picked up some corporate charter work for one of the saab's, so maybe this has influenced the decision to pull a route and free up an aircraft?

WELSHGUY40 19th Dec 2009 10:09

some good news about time :ok:

WalesOnline - News - Cardiff News - Airport set to fly if new routes take off

mathers_wales_uk 19th Dec 2009 12:32

It's some good news finally and something to look forward to and work towards. With 2010 looking to become the quietest for many years we need to honestly look at W10 & S11.

Don't forget this is not set out in stone by any means and rests on the passenger numbers for S10, W10 and current ecenomic conditions.

The airline boss said: “When the economic conditions return, probably in the year after next,

However, the company’s head reiterated that any future investment was dependent on a healthy flights market in two years’ time.
Looking at the quote below what increase could we see to british airport that allready depart from Cardiff?

GLA up to x 2 daily
BHD up to x 2 daily posibly 3
EDI up to x 4 daily dependent on other competitors if on the route
JER x Daily (has been done before amongst 2 operators with 8 weekly)

Allthough not British we may see the return of x 2 daily CDG.

increase the frequency of key flights to British airports that already depart from Cardiff.
Looking at the quote below how many aircraft would you assume that this would amount to? 2 x Dash 8-Q400?

If Flybe’s proposed expansion goes ahead, it is likely opportunities will be created for pilots, cabin crew, engineers and support staff.
Once again ladies and gentleman this is not set in stone so everyone needs to support the routes currently operated by Flybe from CWL as much as they possibly can to ensure that this does happen.

It shows that if you support your local airport routes and investment will come. (eventually)

mathers_wales_uk 19th Dec 2009 12:44

T3 are currently selling the same flights that are operated this summer and winter. I'm not sure if Planenut was meaning lfrom last year when T3 operated a mid roatation T34645/T34646 which had cheaper fares.

Not sure of the ABZ figures. But i definetly know it was from the Would if you could campaign that which was a business orientated campaign that foted ABZ as a top destination. So a 1 x daily rotation with a 15:25 departure would not benefit business travellers at all as they would have mostly needed to encur extra cost to use hotel accomodation.

Im sure BRS still saw a lot of CWL passengers through their doors during the time that Loganair to ABZ service has been running.
