I've been looking at the options for flights to Belfast from Blackpool to look at the competition JXT are going to be up against. Don't think Manx2 are going to be a worry at all, they only have one daily connecting through flight from BLK to BHD so they don't really compete in the day return market. The big one seems to be Jet2 who have gone twice daily into BFS with a 733. The prices are much cheaper than JXT with the LS flight leaving an hour earlier in the morning, however will the fact JXT are going into BHD mean there is room for both operators flying across the Irish sea?

I think both SOU and ABZ are going to be very successful as long as the marketing is right. I wouldn't be suprised to see both go twice daily in the near future.

Maybe there is also room for flights to BRS, EDI and GLA?

Jet2 rumored to be going up to 3 daily Mon to Fri.Had a look on Jetstream website and couldent fine anything under £73.00 single.I dont think Jet2 will be having any sleepless nights.

Agreed, I don't think they'll be seeing Jet2 off, but is there room for both on the BLK-BFS/BHD run? Have JXT found a good enough niche to survive?

I think the Jetstream Express prices include tax as well.

I have spoken to JXT, and they have said they are receiving great support so far, seeing as they have only just launched.

On the GLA and EDI subject, I took this up with the airline. My comment have been passed onto the management, and the reply was that after launching their three routes, they will look at expansion, but there main aim to is get these three routes growing asap which is understandable.

the former gk - do you know of any more romours from BLK for the summer concerning LS?

P.S. Seen that JXT are offering their a/c for charter for the TT races!

How many Jetstreams do JXT operate? I know of 3, namely G-PLAJ, G-JXTA & G-JXTC although the latter two apparently haven't flown for a bit.

Are there any JS41's still spare or have Eastern took them all? Presumably any logical upgrade wiould be to the JS41 (assuming there are some avialable)

Eastern have sold one Jetstream 41 to Yeti Airlines so they might have some other spare

From what I have heard, they only have 4 J31s. I am pretty sure that they will not replace their J31s with J41s on the scheduled services without a big change of prices and services.

This is because if the airline fly a/c that hold over 19 paying passengers, then the APD tax is introduced, but with aircraft with 19 seats or less, there is no APD.

JXT are J31 specialists and I am near certain that's the way it's going to remain for the forseeable future. The management are extremely prudent and have taken over 18 months to take the decision to launch scheduled flights in their own right.

The fourth aircraft is G-CCPW by the way.

From what I've read on the Blackpool thread things seem to be going pretty slowly in terms of ticket sales for JXT? Is there much in the way of publicity and advertising going on up north? There is massive potential here for them to do really well but it doesn't seem like they are maximising their opportunities.

Local morning paper up here (ABZ) had a large-ish report P3 recently.

Other than that, seen no advertising.

Terminal may be festooned with promo material, but don't know!

Having spoken to someone at JXT today the first flight has about 6 booked on it. I'd imagine it's going to be slow going but it will pick up. 6 PAX at an average price of £93.60 equal £562 which on a 30 minute sector should mean a bit of a profit on the J31. Not a massive one, but a profit all the same.

How come I am still able to book 16 seats on it if I wish? 18-16=2, not 6.

Anyway, if there are 6 pax onboard, I am sure they will return if the service is good enough!

BUT if the airline can fill planes like M2, then they maybe able to pull off this mission of domestic niche services from BLK!

MUFC_fan what date are you looking at? The first flights are on May 8th.

The JXT102 BHD-BLK has the most passengers with 7 booked
The JXT101 BLK-BHD has 6 booked
The JXT104 BHD-BLK has 3 booked
The JXT103 BLK-BHD has 5 booked

Every flight on the 9th so far has 4 booked, every flight on the 10th has 3 PAX booked, same for the 11th except for the 104 which has 4 booked.

So for the first week they have sold 62 seats out of a possible 288, a total load factor of 22%. Not stunning, but also not that bad for a start up airline in it's first week up directly against one of the regions most successful locos. It's a good base to build from.

I haven't booked a flight with them yet but I intend to try them out on the 10th.

The Aberdeen route also seems to be doing ok. They have more than 3 PAX on every flight for the first two weeks, which, for an airline this size, a month before the route starts is actually very good. It's also the same for the first two weeks of the Southampton route which doesn't start for two more months!

Please could you tell me where you are getting your information from please.

I have looked at the JXT website, and on the 8th, it says that I can book 16 people on the 101,103 and 104 with JetPLUS.

How can you book more than 9 ? Am I thick or what (don't answer that:hmm: )...You can only book up to 9 seats at a time from the drop down box so how does all that work ?

PAX are only forced to book JetPLUS fares when they are running very low on available seats, around 3 or 4 left I believe. Anything before that is available as a X/N/Y fare which is your normal non-changeable bog standard ticket. So, unless you have 14 booked on a flight JetPLUS fares are always going to be available.

nav3, to book anything above 9 seats you need to start trying to book kiddy fares as well.

When BNWA started blackpool to i-o-m 4 years ago on the first flt to i-o-m they took 1 pax and none back:{ .....but over the first year they carried 8000 pax on the chieftain:D ...so all you people posting concerns about pax numbers on the opening few flts don't loose any sleep over it cause i can assure you jetstream express ain't!!:=

:{ Well if theyre not someone should be.:eek: Ive never yet found a J31 which doesn't cost over £1000 an hour to run incl lease, maintenance, spares reserve, fuel, crew, trolley dolley, catering, Eurocontrol, landing and handling fees. :{ This is before any office overheads, website/ booking engine costs & advertising. :{ :{ Sure, both airports are giving them lots of free space in the terminals but airport space is almost a waste of time as the problem is getting the customers to the airport in the first plaice.:{ :{ :{

At £73 they'll need a 17/18 :} load on every flight to break even at £93 they still need 14/18 :uhoh: every flight.

ABZ should be OK as they will have a niche. :ok: BHD forget it. If you fly into BFS for 30 quid in a comfortable 737 you can afford the 20 quid taxi fare into the City and still get there at the same time with cash in your pocket.

BNWA carried about 4 pax a day BLKBHD- before J2 went double daily!
