Its just a crying shame that our industry has come to this!!

You have the 2 leaders Thomson and First Choice dispanding their names to become 1 new name :( . Being an employer of the latter, I fear for my future with the company.....:{

I've tried to find the information elsewhere, but no luck so far: how many pilots at FCA, ratio of Capt to f/O, and what sort of length of service do people have.

As the proposed seniority list merger looks to be DOJ, it would be useful to know what sort of service the f/Os have, as it all effects out promotion prospects

Last issued list at FCA showed 189 CPs & 208 FOs as of Apr 2007.
Of the FOs appx the top 80 joined before Apr 2000!

Any chance you could tell us the figures for TFly?

Ours isn't split in to Capts and F/Os - it's all combined so it would mean sitting down and counting to find out how many of each !
But the majority of the seniority list consists of people that have joined recently (since 2000).

If DOJ is employed to bring the lists together, I think FC will blend in in the top half/two thirds and those of t'fly in the lower half of the current list will simply shift further down with the last couple of hundred holding a 4-digit seniority number !

Have any other proposals been put forward to merge the seniority lists ?

FC & TFly BALPA CCs are to hold a 2 day seminar where

After all relevant background information has been presented, all options will be considered, discussed and hopefully, the perfect solution arrived at.
Options are a straight DOJ list, a mechanical merge of the 2 lists or any combination in between - brace yourself for mutterings of 'Orion/Leisure/Anglian Airways' from those who it shouldn't really matter to!

Having done a merger before, simple DOJ can only be the way otherwise someone will feel done by. It's simple and fair. 10 years service gives you ten years on the seniority list. 5 gives 5, etc
