I see reference to CHAL on the Cambridge Forum, but the name appears to have all but disappeared elsewhere.......so do CHAL exist or has that name gone......MAR properties appear to be the funding behind Blackpool. A rumour doing the rounds is that Wolverhampton Airfield is surplus to their (who ever they are) requirements and will be sold..........??? Another rumour is that the Italian Govt. is suing CHAL (??) for not delivering their promises at Biella.......????
Should wind up some interesting speculation!!

You need to get some feed back from the Blackpool posters but I remember when they bought the airport from the council they only paid 1 million and then sold some of the land off and got there money back, but they way the contact was written they would only have to pay many years later, that was how I was told of the purchase.

Don't know anything about the sueing business or the selling of Wolverhampton airport, but City Hopper were taken over by CHAL, and both Bosses at BLK and Wolverhampton resigned, I don't know whether this was to do with the takeover?

As you can see at BLK, the company are extremely effective. I read an report on the airport in mid 2005, where Mr. Whelan said that BLK would have 20 destinations within 3 years. They now have this, with multiple frequencies on three of their routes. They have three aircraft based this summer, and the largest LC airline in Europe pops in four times per day. So when they say that BLK will be flying the pond in five years time, it looks like they will be!:D

Excellently run company. Have turned BLK from an airfield into an airport. New terminal, new airlines, and a bright future! Brilliant!

Flying the pond, not if they don't put a but of tarmac on to the end of the runway, bit short at the moment.

Not for the 787 apparently. They need to widen and strnghten some of the taxiways and build bigger stands, but it is possible.

It is something to do with the 787's wing design, and the new RR engines that are supposed to be better at short runway operations.

If they wanted to expand even further, they would need to expand their runway. Unless they do have an airline that does what GSM are doing with the LPL - NYC and GLA - BOS flights, they are flying via an Irish airport (Knock in this case).
