More cancellations today due to operational issues. Any ideas what these were?
|
I was in Guernsey Airport yesterday when one of the cancellation announcements went out. The reasons given being technical issues and no crew.

More cancellations today Guernsey to Alderney I see

That would explain it then - I didn't know vis was down to 50m - should have checked first
|
Todays reason for more cancellations between Alderney & Guernsey is???
|
From what I could see, only the loan Dorny was running.

G-OMAF operated GR217, G-OAUR GR229 and G-LGIS GR287. Don't know about the rest of the flights.

.... probably just for a breath of air. (Has it forgotten how to fly?)

ATR72s
Presumably G-COBO is u/s at Stansted tonight. The return to GCI was cancelled and G-LERE was switched from LGW GR608 (which was cancelled) to GR678 (Manchester) instead of COBO. |
Surprise Surprise, the second new build 228 from RUAG has been delayed & is not now expected until Q2 2018 - I actually wonder if it will arrive at all?
Arrival of new Aurigny plane delayed until 2018 | Channel - ITV News |
Soon it will be a year late.
Meanwhile G-OMAF appears to be flying to Germany. So with G-OAUR undergoing maintenance currently (?) and G-SAYE apparently long-term sick, the Dornier operation now falls into the lap of G-LGIS. Or will RUAG sending a replacement for G-OMAF? G-OAUR back in service to Dinard, but still unsatisfactory situation. |
Dornier 228
This appears to be a manufacturer problem. I hope Aurigny have a big penalty clause in the contract, including supply of a replacement to cover for the delay

D-CAAL in operation today

Oops - I think the answer is in the posting above. |
It looks as if the arrival of D-CAAL has meant that G-OMAF has returned to Germany. Does this mean G-OMAF has finished with Aurigny?
Another point to ponder - if, as reported, D-CAAL has been provided with crew, Aurigny will have quite a few flight crew twiddling thumbs in the near future. They have been trained to fly one or another kind of Dornier (old or NG) but now will hardly be needed with D-CAAL covering some flights. Have they had short-term contracts and moved on? Or are they still employees but without flying duties?? |
Time for a bit of an audit on the airline me thinks...at some point the states will have to raise a hand and say "stop" lets look at this logically and see what the flying fairies is going here - a misfit bunch of types and crappy dispatch reliability that is in essence being supported by the local govt.
Aurigny is a good airline with a long heritage - and thats not a guarantee to success! but it sounds to me like people are trying to make their mark and failing miserably to understand the route cause of the problems or indeed the market they are meant to serve, along with failing to have sufficient knowledge of their routes / capacity / demand and operating costs versus demand and price point. Who actually stuck their head above the parapet and said "yep i'll vote for us to buy some new Do228" that are effectively out of production a/c and uber expensive as they are the only a/c like a BN 2 mk3 that i can think of.... WTF! You could of purchased two brand new EASA Let 410 NG i neither 15 or 19 seat config for the price of a single Do228 and had 100% better dispatch reliability, or two/three C208B EX Caravans. Still odds are with all this moaning - it will, (we hope) in all reality be a small blip in the airline history and written about - but hopefully Aurigny will still be there when we all have grandkids.. Blue Skies! |

G-OMAF
This aircraft has departed from OBF and is currently heading towards GCI at FL100. Looks as if it might be returning to AUR after some work in OBF. Landed ACI 09.59 so must be back with AUR - probably to replace D-CAAL. |
As of 1526hrs - unless the airport webcam is behind time - a yellow tailed Do.228 went from right to left at ground level presumably on tow... but both LGIS and OAUR are currently airborne....
Surely not G-SAYE?! |
Probably so! SAYE is currently out of the hangar and moving slowly under its own steam.

Seat Pitch
Flew one of their ATR72 the other day
They have the new hard back leather seats The seat pitch has definately reduced; have aurigny densified their cabins? |
G-SAYE
G-SAYE is currently in the air - AUR100T.
Looks as though it did a circuit and then returned to the hangar. |
A very brief, low-level circuit. First time in the air since the 4th April. Is there hope for this little beast?

Aurigny are dropping GCI-LCY. From the book of Face....
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO LONDON CONNECTIONS Today we have announced changes to our London connections as we look to improve our London Gatwick service, the key lifeline route for Guernsey. At the start of December, we will have our own team of staff at Gatwick Airport, providing our own ground handling service. This will mean that passengers will be dealing with Aurigny staff throughout the whole travel experience, and there will be a dedicated team available at all times to help improve passenger communication and disruption handling. The Gatwick route is a key lifeline service for the island and we felt it was important to have our own team, who will become familiar faces for regular travellers. LONDON CITY As part of the changes to our London operations, we have, with regret, taken the decision to bring to an end our London City service from the end of October. We will be operating our last flight to London City on 27th October 2017, but the service will continue as normal until that date and customers can still book flights. |
G-HUET is going aswell
|
Will this be GR's own staff at LGW or will it be a dedicated team pulled from the existing ground handler I wonder - also will it include ramp staff? If it's GR's own staff this will cost a fortune to run & all for 38 flights a week - more madness from management.
I wonder if the Flybe fanchisee will take up the route & push the onward connections that are available? This being something GR were unable to do. |
Isn't of thought if anyone was going to take over the route it would be BA with cityflyer who have suitable aircraft in the S2000 or E70
cs |
Jet2 also brought passenger ops in house as well, it's not unknown. Business is cyclical, outsource, insource and repeat....

GR509
FR24 appears to show G-OMAF leaving ACI for SOU today, climbing to 6.0, then turning back to divert to GCI. Does anyone know the reason? There is no sign of any replacement flight, so were pax put on a Flybe ATR72 to SOU? |
It had a problem with nose wheel steering.
|
Thanks Geo73. That's different.

G-LERE entered service 17th November 2016 and has all forward-facing seats.
