Wonder why Bacx got rid of Gla/Edi to Bhd,is it because they cant compete with Ezy on these routes given that Ezy have 80 to 90 odd percent of the market share and just increased frequencies on the BFS-EDI route to 4 per day along with Gla.I wonder how long Loganair will compete on these two routes for.Obviously Bacx were making a loss here and I cant imagine Loganair turning it around, given that they dont have the almighty backing of BA.......................................................... ..........................................

Hi Norman

You should be ashamed of yourself Norman.
The use of the terminology:

""Midland BOUGHT Loganair. They made the policy decisions that shafted Loganair, but they could, because it was theirs at that time!""

gives away your identity, your thoughts, your motivation and your ethics.

Someone remind me about whether or not a cabin should be secure for landing...............??

Hasta La Vista, Baby!

No names no pack drill, but wasn't the No. 1 fired over that little shenanigan - all because of an attempt to set a new record for London - IOM?? CAA FOI on board I believe too.

"Hi Norman, hope you're keeping well - NOT!!!" :}

Norman Duck Soup has obviously woken up and deleted all his posts on this thread!
You can't hide the evidence as easy as that - we've all seen it.

ATPs wet leases to when?

Any idea when the 4 ATPs leases are due to end with BACX?

The next customers would pick them up as "cheap as chips" .

Make good freighters for Emerald.

lOGANAIR AXES IRISH ROUTES

loganair has axed Man-Ldy and will now not take over Bhd to Edi/Gla routes from Bacx.BA Bhd-Edi services to be withdrawn from FEB27 and Bhd-Gla withdrawn from MAR27.

brabazon 22nd Jan 2004 21:28

I guess competing directly with FlyBe and indirectly with easyJet (into BFS) proved too much for BA. Gradually BA seem to be retreating from the regions....

ALLMCC 22nd Jan 2004 21:45

Perfect opportunity for Flybe to bring forward the start date of BHD - EDI currently planned for 28 Mar - no point in handing business to Easyjet on a plate!

glynn-kayes 22nd Jan 2004 21:58

NO point handing it to Flybe either.I am not just talking about Bhd here im talking about Ldy too, so dont hijack the thread Allmcc.Ezy will be the only carrier to Edi in Feb.

cuthere 22nd Jan 2004 22:17

Hmmm.....misleading title there Glynn. What about LDY-DUB and LDY-GLA? Also the Loganair routes from Scotland to Southern Ireland? (GLA-ORK). These are all still operational, and as for MAN-LDY, that ceased a couple of weeks ago!!!!!

4U338 22nd Jan 2004 23:38

I assume that LDY-MAN and LDY-DUB are to remain though? I'm surprised at how few routes there are from LDY although I guess BFS is not all that far away. Would a Ryanair LDY-PIK route be a possibility?

GroupCaptain 23rd Jan 2004 04:24

LDY-PIK?

Not until LDY gets serious and extends its runway

ecj 23rd Jan 2004 05:24

Ryanair manage to operate Derry to Stansted with the existing length. Prestwick might well be an option in the future.

MarkD 23rd Jan 2004 05:37

LDY only caters for a 732. FR have the pressure on to get a 738 runway length but locals bolshie on the subject if I recall. try google.

LDY-DUB is supported by a PSO subsidy from the Irish govt.

ALLMCC 23rd Jan 2004 16:52

As per Flybe website today, start date BHD - EDI brought forward from 28 Mar to 01 Mar

Quote "easy will be the only carrier to edi in Feb" - only on the 28th/29th - sorry to disappoint Glynn!

Tower Ranger 24th Jan 2004 03:29

I`m more surprised there are any routes out of LDY , has the airport ever made a profit or is it just tax payers money North and South keeping it going between Eu subsidies?

cuthere 24th Jan 2004 03:36

LDY does serve a purpose. As for making money, not yet, but if they get the runway extension then why not? A lot of people (in N.Irish terms!!) do live in it's catchment area and have you ever tried using public transport to get to BFS from the NW? At least BHD is near ANYWHERE it's actually feasible to use public transport to get to.

ecj 25th Jan 2004 15:14

LDY runway extension

An extension of the main runway would mean that a number of houses just to the west of the airfield would have to be knocked down.

As you can imagine, the owners are fighting the proposal.

cuthere 29th Jan 2004 21:08

Looks like the competition was too much for Loganair, though they reckon the derry to galsgow route will be unaffected....for now
