QUERY

I notice that a MYT A321 has been into EXT three weeks running...is this regular over the winter or just the last few weeks before the winter schedules start.

embraernotworthy 7th Nov 2007 07:08

any truth in the rumour that the long awaited building work for the new stands is going to start next week, anyone?????

extalex 7th Nov 2007 09:10

Heya,

They said in the Airport User Group minutes that construction would be finished by the end of the Winter for 2 new stands on the southside. So the fact that they are starting next week would seem to support this.

Also, there was talk of putting down some reinforcing mesh on the grass arpon in order to make is useable all year round... perhaps they are thinking of making the disused southside a taxiway in the future...

Any other news down there?

There hasn't been any posts for quite a while it seems.

Alex

Heya Guys,

Just a quick callout for any news on the airfield...

Has anyone got any pictures of the new run-up area on the northside?

Can anyone confirm that the construction for the new stands has started? IF so how many are being constructed and where?

Any other news is welcome!!!

Alex

robin 22nd Nov 2007 21:48

I understand that the new stands will be starting soon and some of the buildings on the south side will be demolished to make way for some 'quik-build' offices.

Master plan has been put off (yet again)

embraernotworthy 23rd Nov 2007 07:37

saw the surveyors doing their bit last monday for the new stands south side but that was all!! will the master plan ever be ready????

EGBE0523 23rd Nov 2007 09:29

"qucik-build' offices."

So we are talking Tents or if the budget can stand it Portacabins!

ADC2604 23rd Nov 2007 16:31

Heard today that an announcement of 3 new routes from EXT due next week.

Inverness, Brussels and Dubrovnik. I think the ABZ will go either direct or will have the INV linked which would mean the LBA being direct....not sure which way around it will be though.

Would be good to see AMS go 2x daily...

birdscarer 23rd Nov 2007 16:53

Congrats to EXT. What airline will be operating those?

devon_guy 23rd Nov 2007 17:46

BE at a guess.......heaven forbid another airline should be allowed.

I suppose that means BRU will be withdrawn from BRS now. Dubrovnik seems a bit strange, thought they might have gone for a German route or maybe Prague.

Also can't see Inverness being overly popular with them already doing ABZ, EDI and GLA. I can't see it being daily.......

Time will tell I guess.

birdscarer 23rd Nov 2007 18:09

Nah-BRU will be safe from BRS - too many business clients use it.

ADC2604 23rd Nov 2007 18:38

Also the BRS flight is operated by SN and has been for several years so that will not be affected.

I was a little sneaky because whilst I was at the airport this morning, I over heard staff talking about it.

The INV I think would surprise people - whilst not necessarily daily there is the demand down here. I never thought NWI would be successful but it is.

Any news on the London link which EXT said would be ready for next spring...no announcement yet!

ADC2604 23rd Nov 2007 19:24

Yeah - I would assume if the Nice comes back it will operate 2 x weekly with Nice maybe 3 x weekly....the odd Alicante or Malaga chucked in at weekends to keep the E195 busy!

BRU will be great - there was a lot of business interest when BRU was first 'being considered'......but it prob will only be for the summer to begin with.

airhumberside 24th Nov 2007 08:24

Would any BE EXT-BRU route be included in the Brussels Airlines codeshare? If so that opens up a load of connections to European and African destinations. Could be more than just local traffic on the route

ADC2604 24th Nov 2007 12:40

I doubt it very much - it would prob just be the BE flts.....the only codeshares are at the larger airports such as MAN BHX and BRS where SN already operate.

SOU BRU flights are not linked to SN at all

airhumberside 24th Nov 2007 15:24

The BE/SN deal covers all SN flights outside of London (BRS/BHX/MAN/NCL) and all Flybe flights to BRU (SOU and MAN)

(Info from original BE press release on the deal)

ADC2604 24th Nov 2007 16:21

Whoops was not aware of that - well it certainly a possibility then, just a shame it won't be on a SN a/c.........would be a different tail on the apron
