Air Scandic have gone bust

Their website no longer available. Flights from NCL now using EUK codes,
Rumours on another site
And Everton fans stranded after airlines goes bust .

Seems to be the end of Air Scandic. Sad news :(

Tis true.

I'm flying with them next week and have just rang my tour operator. They have confirmed this and told me my NCL-LCA next Sunday will be flown by Air Atlanta or Viking Air.

Don't know if this is still under Finnair from Newcastle or whether these airlines will be using their own aircraft.

Still Finnair aircraft using Air Atlanta Europe flight code.

Pax will see no change as same crew etc. Only difference will be the call in the airport - listen out for Air Atlanta Europe.

The Newcastle flights continue on using the AY (Finnair) code, as they have done for the past few weeks....

So did the Everton fans make it? Perhaps they wished that they hadn't given that they lost 1-5!

EGNH01 16th Sep 2005 11:07

No they didnt make it they could not find another spare aircraft to operate their flight. Im sure they are glad now :p I assume that was why there was a heavy police presence in LPL yesterday morning.

The sad thing is it’s that time of year when airlines have to find incoming money to survive the winter.... if no good contracts are on the cards and with the high prise of oil I think quite a few will soon cut their losses...:(

I take it that reading the above messages that all passengers will be ok if they were booked to fly with an airline sub contracted through Air Scandic. My wife is due to fly back from Corfu to BFS on Monday with Finnair on an Air Scandic fl #. I have phoned the agent and they said something about ATOL insurance meaning that Finnair would be paid regardless to do the flight but didn't really sound sure. Does anyone know what the case might be in reality?

Mr Angry from Purley 18th Sep 2005 09:10

EI MD11 Scandic seem to still be operating or certainly the flights chartered by them. I would be confident the flight remains on at this time :\
