Fly keen - another Euromanx?
 

It was noted on another thread that a SD3-60 has started operating for FlyKeen on BLK-IOM-BHD.

So, again, here's an operator without the correct licence (Class B holder only - only just applied for Class A - published this week in OF2) "operating" a large aircraft on their routes, their website does not say anything about "ticket provider", etc...... Deja vu (again)? Another UK company but foreign operator (don't let the G reg fool you - Air Contractors is an Irish Company).

Whats the CAA playing at? Is there still a CAA worth talking about? Why bother with all that messy licence stuff, just go an get an aircraft and away you go!!

It makes me sooooo angry (as if I didn't have enough to worry about with what's going on down south)

I don't think ACL have anything to do with this lease.

BAC Leasing perhaps? (Which was not part of the ACL takeover of BAC Express)

The CAA Register still shows the aircraft used, G-VBAC, as being registered to BAC Leasing.

Yak97, I'm not clear what your gripe is? Is it from the passenger's perspective or from the flight crew perspective? Is it safety related or that the wording should be clearer?

I think you may find the 360 is a temp replacement for the Bandit that had the engine failure last week. It is still, I believe, in the hangar awaiting repair.

Apparently the sheds(1 they have now and another on its way) are permenent a/c. As I understand it FlyKeen will become A2B airways Ltd. The local paper has already advertised for Cabin Crew saying this airline is expanding with new a/c and new routes.

Was not aware that the Bandit had an engine failure anybody any more news on that please.

Bandit GBGYT departed runway 21 at Ronaldsway Mon 14th last week, R/H donk failed about 1 minute after take off in fairly low cloud. ATC positioned a/c back to an SRA for 26 & a/c landed safely. Pax sent to BPL on a BNW Chieftain later.

1. Don't think BAC have an AOC anymore, they don't have a A licence (not on the CAA list). I think I saw an item in OF2 that allowed ACL to operate some of the SD3-60 on the UK reg.

2. Brabazon - What I'm about is that if you try and set yourself up as a "proper" airline from the start with a Class A licence you have to go thru all sorts of hoops from CPG to prove your financial fitness, funding etc.

If however you go the EuroManx and now KeenAir route, you apply for a Class B licence (no financial requirements, only EU ownership & insurance to prove) and then you go out and get whatever aircraft type you like and run it under your name (with ticket provider in very small letters on your website).

Its not, I believe, a matter of flight safety (as the actual operator of the aircraft needs to have an AOC) but of passing off a Company as something else than it is. This was especially the case with Euromanx and the Beech1900, which is an aircraft not even available to UK operators.

I don't think A2B & FlyKeen are the same as FlyKeen applied for a Class A lst weekm didn't A2B apply some weeks ago?
