City Hopper Airports

One of my local newspapers carried an interview with a City Hopper Airports staff member in relation to future plans for Wolverhampton Airport. Of interest in this article was the mention of June 2005 being an important date at Wolverhampton, and the possible purchase of an English South Coast airport.

Another local airport to add to Wolverhampton, Blackpool and Biella?

Sounds like Shoreham/Brighton City, which was recently advertised. The runway's a bit restrictive for commercial use though.

Shoreham does have commercial service. Rockhopper to Alderney and EuroExec (or something like that) to Jersey, Guernsey, Rouen and Le Tourquet

You could probably get a DHC-8-200 or similar STOL in and out of there no probs. Great regional potential for this airport with it's close proximity to Brighton, just needs better facilities for serious AT ops and transport system to/from Brighton city centre.

Yes,I knew that, but I don't think my statement was incorrect. It IS restrictive(to PROPER commercial ops!)

City Hopper have no pot to p-ss in ?, they are selling off land at Blackpool to finance there daily operations, bring back Blackpool Council and send these assett strippers back where they belong !

What land have they sold off at Blackpool Airport?

Simply put I would have thought BLK owners would want to aquire land for their so called expansion plans rather than get rid of it.

Talking of expansion plans, I keep asking the same old question but does anyone have anything in the way of news/rumours for BLK plans. I like to look on the +ve side but I can't help but think the talk of 'big expansion' is a load of hot air.

First they want to extend the rwy, then they dont, now they say 'it is an option'(that came from a ATCO). I thought it was FR who wanted the extention? BLK appear to be very accomodating - NOT!

All that said, I certainly dont agree with letting the council retake ownership of BLK. Their forward thinking was about as bad as its staff. If they had their way they would have scrapped the airport and built housing and offices etc.

This crowd keep stating that they intend to spend money at Blackpool , dont appear to have spent any yet !

Terminal building being rehashed shortly. Better start quick , dont they have some daily foreign flights starting soon.

I'd heard somewhere that GA movts are dropping or going away due to changes in policy. etc.etc Hope they dont try to hack the resident companies based on the site off as well then !

Is this true ?

Anyway wasn't the Airport sold on the basis that an airport was on site for "x" amount of years ?? It could end up as a smaller airport and a major commercial retail park ............. more like.

Well time will tell , hope I'm wrong........

** aint no Airbuses coming thru regular ...just coaches !****
