Where do they get these figures from?

Where I work BY had a mare of a summer. Some serious delays!

Not dissing them mind. Well done BY :ok:

Does this include Scheduled flights of just Charter? Can remember a carrier at LGW coming first a few years ago but they only had one flight a day.

Where do they get this info from, as i seem to recall reading somewhere that First Choice were the most punctual charter airline in 2004, followed by Thomas Cook.

I believe you work at an airport not a million miles from where I live, if I recall previous posts correctly.

I don't think that airport is included in the stats. I believe they only use the three main London, the two main Scottish , Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle airports for their figures.

Was BY consistently bad at your 'place' or was it more a case of a few spectacular delays?

From what I recall they had quite a few 'big ones', plus they seemed to grab quite a few fog diversions etc. It doesn't take many before your figure starts to slide.

Quite shocked that this airport isnt included in the stats, as it certainly is for the airline I work for.

Official punctuality figures published by the CAA which report delays at 10 UK Airports.

Just charter.

That was Summer 2003 data published by the AUC, they use the same data but rank airlines based on proportion of flights delayed over an hour, not average delay. See the table above with the figures in red brackets for Summer 2003, First Choice (Air 2000) were the best, followed by TCX.

In terms of average delay they were the other way round though, same for 2004 so the AUC data will probably rank FCA second and TCX third when they release their stats for Summer '04.

Stats - Very interesting

I believe, if you push back and park at your STD then you are deemed to have departed on time! You might well end up waiting an hour, over the otherside of the airport, for a slot, but 'No delay' will be recorded by the CAA.

The subsequent delay downroute is not taken into account by these or many other compiled figures. They look only at delays to departures from selected UK airports.

Actually the CAA stats record take-off time and landing time, and a taxi time assumption is made based on the airport and whether it is a departure / arrival.

So you can't get away with pushing back off stand on schedule at 09:00, then taking off at 10:15, your departure is recorded on the CAA stats as 1 hour late as it relates to take-off time.

Remember, arrivals at uk airports are counted as well.

Thanks for that Localiser, it must just be the company stats that play "the push back time" game.

That would explain the differences in the company figures and the figures provided above.
