Humberside Charters

My Travel and Britannia/Thomson Fly operate 'W' charter flights into HUY all year round and First Choice in the summer. What bases do these aircraft come from and will it be same for Summer 2005?

Thanks

You need to have a pint or three in the Red Lion

If the aircraft is resort based, it is obviously based where it is coming from ! DOH !

As for 2005, I think you had better reserve yourself a new handle "airdoncaster", because there won't be much happening at Humberside.

I know the Air Europa, Futura's etc are resort based but I am after the British airlines bases

I wont be reserving airdoncaster - Humberside has, in the long term if not the short term a good future ahead of it

I think that for the past couple of years at least (and it may have been longer), many of the BY services from HUY have been operated by the aircraft based at LBA, hence the sight of BY 762's at HUY during early summer 2003/4 when this aircraft was being used at Leeds, before reverting to B757's from June onwards. The times of the flights also suggest this as on certain days the aircraft would leave LBA early morning and not return until late at night, with HUY having had a mid-afternoon BY service.

Not sure about MYT, but again I think that the LBA based aircraft used to do some of the winter 'W' services, such as TFS. G-PIDS was the usual B757 based at LBA in winter 2003/4 and was also regularly seen at HUY during this time. Could be that a MAN based aircraft may do some of the services too and in the future.

From what i have seen, aircraft operating 'W' patterns often keep close to airports that the aircraft is based at, presumably as it makes crew changes/travelling much shorter and easier.

Humberside has a great future as a training base and that's about it, everyone else will be off up t'road to donnie.

There seems to be alot of negative posts on here towards HUY; DSA will clearly have some effect but it's not going to kill off all flights from HUY. Provided that airlines can operate in/out of HUY at the same cost as DSA then why should they move all their services? Many HUY passengers come from the Hull/Grimsby area and HUY is much nearer for them than DSA. Note also that the DSA based Thomsonfly B737-800 is slated to do a W-rotation into HUY this summer. Hence Thomson must think there's still demand for services from both airports??

Indeed, they have said they are commited to offering flights from Humberside

So no MyTravel then

Was hoping for Sun Express to Antalya but never mind, the fact we have got the route is what counts

As ever Saturday is the busiest day for charters

DC10FAN 31st Dec 2004 18:05

Good to see that other carriers have stepped in to operate routes dropped by MYT; eg MAHON FUA MAH BASED 738

airhumberside 31st Dec 2004 20:25

I presume the My Travel cuts are due to them reducing their fleet

DC10FAN 1st Jan 2005 12:47

IIRC the MYT flights last summer were operated by the A320 based at MME and the 757/320? based at LBA. MYT have closed these 2 bases hence no a/c available.

onion 2nd Jan 2005 09:30

DC10FAN last summer MYT closed its Teesside base but Spannair did have a MD80 series aircraft based there. So there was no MYT A320 based at Teesside last summer.

aeulad 8th Jan 2005 18:56

Correction, the AYT flights will operate with Sunexpress and not Pegasus.

Will be nice to see Sun Express, something different. Presume it will be a B737, but what series?

rmo757 17th Jan 2005 11:59

They only op b738 most with winglets

GrahamK 17th Jan 2005 12:07

SunExpress also operate 737-700s

rmo757 17th Jan 2005 15:07

GrahamK only b738 for summer05, b737/700 were summer04 only :ok:
