European Aviation Air Charter

Any news on the above?

I hear that they are looking at replacing the current fleet of B737-200s. It has been rumoured that they were originally looking at B733s but these are currently in demand by various loco's so ethy are now looking at the the MD80 series of aircraft as these are cheaper to aquire & there are plenty sitting around in storage.

Is the B747-200 fleet seeing much usage?

I've heard MD-83's mentioned

we_never_change 13th Dec 2004 17:33

I know that the MD87 is shorter than the MD83 but what is the difference between an MD81, MD82, MD83 & MD88?

I had heard ex Continental MD82s from out of the Desert rather than MD83s?

Number of seats, range maybe?

mrhosty 13th Dec 2004 20:45

737-200s have now got an extension until spring 2007...... apparently looking at possible replacements - 737-300, md8?, bae146 or fokker 100, but who knows

Nakata77 14th Dec 2004 10:50

...MD80's could certainly help EAC with leasing, chartering etc, as these a/c are a rarity in the European market now. They burn fuel though, so the advantage is ownership costs/cheap lease rates.
I reckon it would be wise if they go for around 4 MD-87 and 4 MD83's.

Perhaps they could replace their B747's wiht MD-11's. Then again the cost of parts, training and maintenance for an entire new fleet would place this idea in the 'fantasy' realm.

umm.

we_never_change 14th Dec 2004 17:16

Not many MD11s lying around though, most (ex America, JAL, SwissAir) have been converted into freighters for UPS or Fedex. Lufthansa are also prowling around for MD11s for conversion to freighters. I think the largest passenger operator at the mo may be Varig.

742's have been sitting around at EGHH for a while now, doing sod all. One or two of them have had their engines removed (permanantly it looks like), while i'm told the infamous 'BA volcanic-ashcloud-incident' one is still in service, but again just sat on the disused runway for weeks on end.

There's one they have leased as well apparently which has seen little use, if any at all.

Max take off weight is the main difference. More pax or more fuel thus greater range.

airsmiles 14th Dec 2004 19:38

I think you'll find that 3 are now flying for Corsair. 'XF due out to CDG tomorrow.

mrhosty 15th Dec 2004 08:29

I think its only XE flying for Corsair, with XF due back from San Antonio to act as a back up. XG,XH,MA all at BOH looking quite sorryful!! cant quite see EAAC getting MD11s!! 737s really busy at the mo.

Miss World 15th Dec 2004 13:31

What flights are EAC doing at the moment?

Also is it true they're starting 3 X weekly sanfords again next season from Manchester as Air Atlanta will be doing some manchester flights plus glasgow & newcastle and wont have the aircrafts to do the contract fully.

FLYING-FODDER 15th Dec 2004 13:41

They are doing some charters over xmas from JER-TFS and some more over the winter period. Basically the usual they have been doing out of jer the past few years

EAC have G-CEAC (B732) on wet lease to WW to replace G-ODSK that Excel ran into the back of in Novemeber at MAN.

Its MAN based but has being operating WW flights out of EMA. Looks rather grubby (outside) to be honest and row 8, seats DEF keep collapsing - wasnt impressed but fixed with some hazard tape! Nice finish inside.

When op for WW, WW add one of their crew members as well so we had 31 pax and 4 cabin crew when I had the displeasure of it last week... staying at WW until they get some more 733s from EZY or patch up G-ODSK according to the crew.

This MD82 will then position to Bournemouth with an Europan Air Charter callsign
