Flyblu

I see Flyblu have changed their name.....to.......Flywho !!

trays4takeoff 8th Nov 2004 15:39

This must be a joke?

This has to be a joke surely?

If this is true, it just goes to show that the whole flyblu/blu arrow/flywho project is nothing more than a p:mad:  s take! Obviously someone has too much time on their hands and too much spare cash and decided to play "pretend airline". Who in heavens name will take them seriously with a name like that?

I noticed if you type www.flywho.com it does actually take you to their homepage, still says flyblu on it though.

I really do feel sorry for them if they are serious because they have about as much street cred as that outfit "skybus" from LTN a few years back. That was B767's and a new concept from what I remember but where are they now? Nowhere!

Maybe its the same people behind flywho trying it again?

330-Purser 8th Nov 2004 17:18

I think Fly Hoop would be more appropriate for these guys

lololol!!!!!

:p :p :p

jabird 8th Nov 2004 19:00

Apparently this is serious. I saw them at WTM, and asked if this was just the name they had to use to rent the stand, and if they would be announcing their actual name later on at the show.

I was told that flywho was their actual name.

jabird 8th Nov 2004 21:35

Ok, leaving the name aside for one moment.

How are they going to get bums on seats when their minimum seat pitch is 38", and this has to be borne out by higher ticket costs?

From any London airport, maybe, but from the regions, is there really a niche for this premium service, without offering a more basic economy product?

I just feel that the business plan is flawed for that reason.

However, I for one would be happy to be proven wrong, for two big reasons:

1) It will be good for the Midlands to have our own unique link to Florida.
2) It will buck the trend when so much else is going downmarket.

jabird 8th Nov 2004 21:58

Inspirational,

Come on, you'll need to put some figures behind that claim. To whom, for which dates, and to where? According to their website, seats don't go on sale until 15th Dec.

Most people haven't even heard of Flyblu (or Flywho) yet, they haven't been able to advertise without an operators' licence, and there's nothing about them on their home hub's website.

As I said, I want to be proven wrong on this one! I'll go and get myself a sugar-coated hat, so at least it will taste nice if I do have to eat it.

trays4takeoff 8th Nov 2004 22:05

all seats sold for next year..............so there!!!!
Nice to know you can go on sale and take peoples money without a licence these days then?

I doubt very much this claim is true. If it is, maybe the CAA would have something to say about it!

Do I detect a little in-house PR on this thread I wonder?

PPRuNe Pop 9th Nov 2004 05:52

I would suggest that this thread is kept cool guys. We are talking hypothetical here and some of the claims being made are ridiculous. For one, seats CANNOT be sold that don't exist, and they cannot exist without being a fully accredited airline.

So no more speculation until blu/who is up and running.

I'm not speculating PPP, I just can't stop laughing at that ridiculous new name!

:D

No matter 330, in all these situations time will tell. It always does - one way or the other........

Navy_Adversary 10th Nov 2004 17:19

I thought that when this 'New' airline was first floated that flights would commence from BHX to Florida during the summer of 2004:confused:

330-Purser 10th Nov 2004 23:49

I think this is their 3rd or 4th attempt at starting Navy. Not bad considering the main founders/directors have no airline experience though. :=

Hi Guys

If i were you, i would stay away from them, they seem very dodgy i applied to them last year as crew as was passed from pillar to post, i also rang BIrmingham airport last september about them and was put through to there media office who said they had never heard of them ?
A biut strange saying they are meant to be flying from here ?

Take care

I saw their stand at World Travel Market yesterday. This states FlyWho formerly known as FlyBlu.

Also, the stand featured a photo of an A310 in FlyWho colours although last time I looked their web site said they would be flying B767s.

Thanks Localiser Green! Knew I should have got my dickchenary out!

Localiser Green 11th Nov 2004 14:56

This states FlyWho formally known as FlyBlu
formally (officially) or formerly (previously)?

Thunderball 2 11th Nov 2004 22:38

I've always been a supporter of Flyblu on principle - the airline business will never stop needing new energy and new ideas - and because, from what I could see, they seemed competent, focused and genuine. And don't let anyone say that all the good business concepts and niche markets have been filled - they most certainly haven't.

But, sorry - are we SERIOUSLY saying that they were promoting "FlyWho" as the name at WTM? As a product name in a highly sophisticated, safety/security conscious sector of industry, it is fully-paid-up, certifiably, twice-round-the-block barmy. In fact it probably renders the senior management Sectionable under the Mental Health Act.

When the Chinese launched an indigenous car design back in the '70s, they called it "The Cedric". They still use the name - you see new "Cedrics" quite often in the PRC. I used to think that it would be nice to have an annual Cedric Award for the daftest product name, although that's probably a bit unfair on the Chinese - I might not come up with a particular snappy name if I was asked to use a Cantonese christian name for a British car. But that's all academic; if they go ahead with FlyWho, then "move over Cedric". And let's get Jonathon Ross to host the Annual FlyWho Awards ceremony.

... i think FLYBYE would be more appropiate.

They aint gonna make an impact...

Morning cynics!

Cant resist having a small chuckle. "It will never work!!!" says one. "Are they certifiably insane???" asks another. Maybe.

Someone tell me why WHO is any more stupid than Song, Jazz, Go, Now, Buzz, Zoom and the list goes on.

This negaitive vibe is just so typical of you wasters who (obviously) know far more than the guys who are actully very sharp and succesful at the top of this small tree.

Isnt it just possible that these guys have a marketing plan that is WAY better than any ideas that an unemployed cabin crew hopeful might be able to invent? Perhaps you should apply for jobs as senior executives in sales and marketing since you can do a better job than the team they have now!

As for the venture being doomed, we can only wait and see, but give them their due, they are still here and are still spending BIG money selling the concept. Dont ever remember seeing this much from Now or Blue Fox (was everyone so negative about this name? - what have foxes to do with airlines eh?).

Last year at WTM FlyBlu had a tiny stand. I saw it. Cute little girl in uniform and a very little team. Then they put up the biggest stand of the show at NEC with a big team and a huge crowd showing big interest and now they have a fairly impressive stand at WTM again with a big team and a lot of interest. Maybe the guys behind it just dont know what to do with their money. That is possible I suppose, but what I saw looked damn good, as did the line of industry worthies wanting to meet with them.

I hope they make it big because few things would give me more pleasure than to see you cynics proved wrong and then turned down for jobs! Eat dirt !

p.s. Before you start up again about me being on the staff, my current employer is not even nearly blue and never has been.

Audreyslackey 13th Nov 2004 09:04

Hmmmm, spending money on advertising but don't appear to have enough to get their own AOC or ATOL. Priorities!
