V Bird cancelled EU-Jet Fokker 100 lease

Due to unreliability of the Fokker 100 EI-DFC V Bird has now cancelled the wet lease of the aircraft.
The Fokker 100 was responsible of major delays within the schedules of V Bird.

Liftdumper 30th Aug 2004 06:47

I wonder what is going on with v bird.
Last few days all flights into VIE were cancelled.

Just short of equipment or maybe another reason??

conradmueller 30th Aug 2004 08:42

There is a shortage of A320īs on the market at the moment.
Two new A320īs will be delivered in October and November.

I saw they were operating a BAe146 into EDLV , I think it was Friday . Clocked it on the radar inbound.

conradmueller 30th Aug 2004 09:52

have leased D-AMAJ from WDL to overcome the aircraft shortage.
The Fokker 100 was stuck in the hangar quite a few times. A few times the EU-Jet crew turned up late for work in Niederrhein.

Fantastic PR for starting the MSE routes then?

chortle,chortle??:ok: :}

flapsout 30th Aug 2004 18:05

:suspect:

I hear more to do with V bird being a bit short of the green stuff

thegoaf 30th Aug 2004 18:22

The MSE routes will start with numerous disadvantages. late or cancelled flights will make things even more difficult for them.

As 'DFC' seems to needed for the MSE Operation. Isn't this a case of end of contract rather than a cancelled contract shocker !!!!

conradmueller 1st Sep 2004 05:50

No, the original leasing contract called for 2 Fokker 100 to be leased for the summer season.

This was then reduced to one, but should have continued up to November this year.

according to
http://pro-nrn.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1001&start=30
there were also quite a few difficulties during the short lease of a Fokker 100 of EU-Jet to Germanwings.
On average one of ten fights were cancelled due to problems with the plane/crew etc.

fred flinstone 4th Sep 2004 22:41

euj had their contract extended for luxor so they can't be that unreliable - maybee lack of readies from vbird was more the reason THEY pulled out of Neiderheim. What makes you think vbird would let them go when they are so short at the moment

charterguy 5th Sep 2004 11:57

EUjet operated 2 aircraft in Italy for tour operators this year. Due to tech problems and crew shortages, flights were canx and some flights had delays of up to 50 hours. If V-Bird experienced similar dramas with 'their' EUjet Fokker, I am not at all surprised that they canx their contract. Remains to be seen how reliable these Fokker will be on EUjets low cost services.

The Real Slim Shady 6th Sep 2004 18:57

The F100s are actually pretty reliable; the problems in Italy and NRN were not due to tech problems with the aircraft.

Put it down to a combination of circumstances; the crews were working very hard, long days and multiple sectors so it wasn't really down to them. Finding culprits doesn't cure the problem: finding solutions is better.

Sometimes the "plan" doesn't come together; c'est la vie. But there are still pilots and cabin crew earning a living.

rmo757 9th Sep 2004 15:05

Sorry I heard diffrent the F100 were always tech hence number of acmi subservc flights they keep requesting must of had about 15diffrent airlines flying obo them so far this summer
