Aer Arran MAN-Waterford service
 

Irish radio station 'Beat 102-103' today reported in it's lead news item that Aer Arran is to launch a Waterford-Manchester scheduled service, following the success of it's service from Waterford to Luton. Can anybody supply further details, eg. start date, frequency and type (presumably ATR42's?). The radio interview with Aer Arran's spokesman concentrated on the passenger benefits of using Waterford Airport rather than the specifics of the new scheduled service.

Quick correction - as I am posting in the early hours, the radio report was actually yesterday. ie. 11th February.

It sound probably true. The company is expanding and looking at further opportunities. What is true is that they have just announced a Cork to Belfast City route starting on Monday March 1st.

From whats being doing the rounds ....

Due to start late April/early May operating MT-TF-S. Aircraft type not confirmed but must be a 42.

Should do well as the manx service all those years ago always pulled in the numbers even that excuse for a service with Euroceltic to LPL had reasonable loads for the few times that the service actually flew.

Good to hear that Aer Arann are delighted with the route after Euroceltic blamed Waterford for poor loads and money loss.

I think those are meant to be the days the service operates ie
Mon, Tues,Thurs,Friday and Sunday

Thought they would operate a Saturday service to avail of football traffic. Then again if it doesn't start to May the season is nearly over.

Aer Arran actually like to have a spare aeroplane available on a Saturday; they regularly operate dedicated football charters to coincide with the home games of clubs with significant Irish support, eg. Manchester United.

Only a man from Belmullet could get that arseways.

On "some" saturdays...like ManU at Home, there are TWO [2] that's more than ONE, less than THREE Aer Arran ATRs sat on the ground at Manch,
Is that ONE spare a/c? TWO spare a/c or have they got a "Football Fleet"?

Quite simply, the point you are making is unclear. Earlier in this thread I pointed out that REA sometimes take the opportunity to operate football charters on a Saturday, prompted by "goatbuster's" post. Nowhere do I speculate as to the extent of their football charter programme. It seems irrelevant to the topic of this thread. So what is your hang-up here? Why do you seemingly call upon me to quantify how prolific REA's football charter capacity may or may not be (which is not information I would have in any case)? Your original question is 'out on a limb' ... that is why I queried it and still do. And the third line of your original question makes no apparent sense.

If you wish to submit a clear and civilised question about REA's football charters, perhaps another poster will be able to furnish you with a reply.
