GB to take over all BA LGW short haul (and make it profitable)?

fmgc 27th Nov 2003 17:03

Don't be silly, BA take over other, profitable, companies and make them non-profitable.

Man Flex 27th Nov 2003 17:23

Big announcement?

Yes it's true.

GB is offering £xxxxxxxxx for a buy out of BA! Why retire concorde when they did?

It was all planned a year ago.

Roobarb, can I have my fiver now?

swashnob 27th Nov 2003 17:55

My money will be on the big news that the new deli-bags will no longer include a chocky bag!!!!!

G B airways

maybe there to fly as G B airways and no longer as B A

Floppy Link 27th Nov 2003 20:54

Didn't Maersk drop the BA franchise and become Duo?

Maybe GB are going to do the same and become Trio.

Bets on who's gonna be Quattro?

cirrus01 27th Nov 2003 23:47

Actually , it will probably be something about the standing down of at least two airbusses over the winnter, and the early departure of the last 737s from their fleet.

Muppit 28th Nov 2003 00:10

How about GB buy out BA LGW routes and go long haul too....?

:p

Apparently they have been caught out putting all their winter eggs in making money out of the Canaries. The competition this year is fierce and winter bookings are way down. They got out of jail last winter thanks to the Canaries bookings.

The announcement on Monday is rumoured to be about which routes are being chopped and where the surplus aircraft are headed.

They are offering crews unpaid leave over the winter plus they are offering crews to other airlines.

GB Balpa pal of mine tells me that BA are not playing ball on renewing the Franchise either. Worrying times for a great little company I would suggest.

DON'T GET TOO EXCITED BOYZ, JUST MORE DOOM & GLOOM FROM THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS.
NOTHING NEW..........................except A330's CARRIBEAN routes 2004.!!!;)

cumulo-granite 28th Nov 2003 16:25

Franchise...

Wasn't the franchise recently renewed for 6 or 7 years...?

Some great people at GB...the best of luck if things have turned a little sour...

Torquelink 28th Nov 2003 17:04

Franchise was renewed in 2000 for 8 years. No panic.

Aliens62 28th Nov 2003 21:27

Heard recently on good authority that the machine regarded as a feat of engineering excellence (also known as the highly profitable G-TTOA)
 is to be parked up at EMA in the next few weeks ...

... also heard that someone at the bee's nest tried to access this site and a message came up that the site was denied and it would be logged that the person had tried to gain access!!

Doesn't sound like anyone is worried now does it?!:hmm:

No comment 28th Nov 2003 21:59

Hasn't TTOA been knackered in MPL most of this week?

Aliens62 28th Nov 2003 22:26

...HENCE THE 'HIGHLY PROFITABLE' BIT!!!;)

HZ123 29th Nov 2003 21:47

There would be no reason in particular for BA to give GB any routes from LGW as they have just recruited CC. Also at LHR we are realiably told that a number of flights short/long will revert to LGW next summer due to the inherant caos this summer.

It may be that whatever is announced the BA/GB will be related to european changes. Within euroland it is rumoured that BA intend to withdraw all directly employed BA staff and make the whole ground op with the exception of CDG/AMS third party managed.

CapedCrewsAider 30th Nov 2003 02:27

Anybody @ GB got any info on:

Emirates recruitment.
EasyJet recruitment.
Britannia Direct recruitment.

The futures any colour except BA colours.

GB's action plan:

1. Remove all ex BA employees.
2. Kick BA 'engineering' into touch.
3. Dump the franchise.
3. Become a true low cost airline.
4. Focus on proper customer service.
Advertise the above to the travelling public.

Will it happen? No because of the freeloaders in group 1. who are building BA size empires in an airline with only 13A/C (and giving themselves the worlds longest job titles to boot).

"Anybody @ GB got any info on:

You'll be needing all those if BA pull out of GB. Who the heck are GB anyway? Don't seem to remember anyone booking a flight in GB in the last 5 years - they've all booked on BA. If you think BA found it tough taking on the low costs, sit back and watch the entertainment as GB take them on... ha ha ha!
