New Ryanair bases
Isn’t it strange...
Yesterday when I checked the internal webpage under “Fuel policy”, there were two new bases stated - including all the destinations. When I checked today – they had disappeared by all of a sudden… New update…. ;) ;) |
So, do we get any clues as to which airports they may be?
|
Girona-Barcelona & Berlin Schonefeld in 2004.
New base in UK in 2005, either RAF Finchingfield or Newcastle. However, Manchester would be option one but looks difficult. |
Where the hell is RAF Finchingfield !!!!!!!!
|
Perhaps it is somewhere near the old RAF airfield at Finningley?
|
RAF Finingley (near York), sorry about that but it has such a weird name.
|
Phew, for a moment I thought you had a hot rumour about RAF Wethersfield, Essex, which is almost next door to the village Finchingfield and not too far from STN.
Security is excellent at Wethersfield, I think it is still an MoD police training centre. |
RAF Finningley
Not that stange if you have been based there.
A while yet before it is up and running. |
Wherever they find an airport which gives them the alms they are constantly begging for
|
Finningly is near Doncaster...many miles to the south of York.....which is [I believe] Elvington
we aim to please, it keeps the cleaners happy |
The bases on the fuel policy paper was:
- Girona (Thats Ryanair langauge for Barcelona) - Lubeck (Thats Ryanair language for Hamburg) |
Can't wait for Ryanair to go Transatlantic:-
Fly direct to New York!!! (Bangor, Maine) |
hate to burst any bubbles but the fuel policy document alluded to only listed extsting routes. i'm not saying it won't happen but there was nothing new in it. lubeck already has 4 and girona has 8 routes. it may be nothing more than an error by somebody in ops who thought that multiple routes meant it must be a base.
|
Does anyone of Ryanair's intention to set up services from BFS or BHD. There have been many rumours but to date they have little more than this !
|
RAF Finningley is just about a mile or so from Bawtry about 10 mins from Donny and the A1,M62,M18,M180,M1...... Ideal catchment area for thousands of possible pax.
It has a 2000ft+ rwy and i think 4 hangers on site. Why hasnt this gem been looked at before.!!!!!! Peel holdings, (the current owners) say cargo ops may start out of Finningley as soon as 2004 but we will wait and see.!!!! Local news reports all developements on the airfield and can be accessed online at...... www.doncasteronline.co.uk  |
As one who underwent flying training at Finningley, I can vouch for it being a marvellous place. Doncaster has a hideous and undeserved reputation for being a dump - it is not. Whatever negative things you may have heard, they almost certainly come from people who have never lived there. I lived there for over a year and grew to love it.
|
b the m - I assume you mean the Finningley runway is 2,000 metres plus. I doubt if 2,000 feet will cut it !
|
Sorry Ryanairpilot it wasnt an ops f up more like the head fuel guy in accounts according to my sources in STN ops.
|
Talking of fuel policy, does Ryanair tanker fuel on most short sectors?
|
Yes tanker fuel say 95% of all routes.
The routes we take sector is not that its cheaper down route but because it was probably part of the deal to take fuel. Afterall when we do take sector anywhere we only take sector back! So my assumption is it cant be cheaper down there as we would fill er up! But we dont. |
