Well you have changed your tune! Not long ago you were insisting that EAC was NOT for sale and requesting that any post mentioning a sale should be removed!

We all know that the company is on the market. The questions needing answering at the moment are 'Who'? and 'When'? rather than 'if'...

When you pay £300,000 for a 747 it doesn't have to work nearly as hard as the 737 you paid £35 million for in order to make a return. Remember this is down season in a poor market, next summer and into the future business is likely to be up.

I hear that the new owners of EEAC are from a country posted previously on this thread.

They plan to:

- replace all –200 with –700/800

- replace 747 with 767

- use 747 as spare parts for a French sister

- turn Hurn into a low cost hub

- paint the planes in Yellow Black White and Chessboard

see LTN paint thread for more clues….

UTIL Bus,

If they do replace their 747 with 767, it will be interesting to see how this affects their contract with Travelcity(not Travelocity!), however small, in that all Travelcity's advertising make much of the use of the 747 and it's three class configuration. See:

http://www.travelcity.co.uk/jumbo.pdf

you will need Acrobat reader.

Well whatever you say, they had better get a move on.

I hear that if EAC don't get a new contract in the next 3 weeks they'll go under, offer or no offer...

B****cks!

I know that this is a rumours forum but there is a lot of complete tosh being talked here, especially by Util BUS. To set a few things straight:

There is no new owner of EAAC. There are ongoing discussions with at least 2 possible purchasers but nothing is yet set in concrete. A sale seems likely but is not definate.

A scheduled low-cost service from BOH-PIK on the 737-200 will be starting shortly.

There is a possibility of adding 737-300s or -400s in the future.

The 747-200s have mileage in them yet. They were bought cheaply and do not have high direct operating costs. 2nd-hand -400s would be a more likely replacement (than 767s!) a few years down the road.

Several contracts for the 747 for next year are under discussion. Signing of these contracts may be delayed until after the sale of the company (if there is to be a sale).
