I wonder if we could see the return of the BA Gatwick toToronto Summer seasonal. Further developments may also be influenced by how Jet Blue and Norse develop their routes at Gatwick. I agree charges and capacity issues at LHR may also influence matters. We also have Virgin and Delta to consider, who must be watching from the sidelines. I seem to recall that pre-Covid both were considering addition services from Gatwick from summer 2020. Virgin were thinking,I believe, of adding New York or Newark and Delta something like Boston Interesting times.

Does anyone know if easyJet and TUI will be relegated back to North Terminal after the summer season?
It's not sustainable for the South if these North based airlines are still going to operate there, especially if Norse expects to base potentially 8 787's at Gatwick and with. BA increasing it's based 777's.

I expect with the winter schedule TUI, and maybe EasyJet, will be operating once again solely from the North Terminal. However they may use both again South in summer 2023. The TUI flights from South this summer have all been operated by aircraft leased in and operated by the likes of Titan and Smartlynx. Titan tend to fly from South when operating from Gatwick be it for themselves or others.
BA leased easyjet quite a number of slots this summer. They may be taking some of those back if they continue to expand their long haul and short haul flights next summer. This may mean fewer EasyJet flights from South in any case.
I personally can’t see Norse operating anywhere near 8 787s from Gatwick next year.
Don’t forget pre-Covid BA we’re operating 15 777s and up to 32 A320 Airbus aircraft from South during Summer 2019. I don’t think the capacity of the terminal is an issue for a while yet.

What is the story with Westjet? I know they're after LHR slots and have got hold of some which are being used for another route but surely Toronto isn’t going from up to twice a day to nothing?

Scoot to return?
Apparently Scoot will reinstate their service to LGW in the winter according to someone in the customer service team at LGW. I'd be surprised if this happens, given that they only just recently suspended the route.

Good to see their operation expand at Gatwick. I wonder what other routes they are planning on opening up from LGW? It would be nice to see FCO come back- as this was historically served alongside LHR. Are there any plans for it to make a return?
They're downsizing in Toronto, focus is moving back to all things Calgary, it's a strategic move at the Canadian end.

Air Canada Rouge no longer fly long haul and Transat may well just increase fares and limit capacity, BA is, as ever, possible. Given the random LGW-YVR launch, who knows...

That is 55 slot pairs which is about 7 round trips a day. Makes sense to keep slots protected. Although BA will be using about 42 plus slot pairs a day during the winter,
they still have more than they need at the moment.

Welcome back Delta Airlines!
Brilliant news, although shame DL have opted not to go all year round. I wonder if VS might follow by beginning to shift some of the leisure/beach destinations back to LGW?
