Maybe they will open the DART with a dancing bear on the ski slope, although I hasten to add, I have not been booked.....yet!
Boss of Wizz is on the biggest ever bonus given out by a listed company if he can double the airline share price inside 5 years. You will need T2 and a second runway, so get borrowing more!

Bears are not welcome at Luton, as it has been discovered they don’t fit on the Dart after extensive testing.
Wizz are eyeing up Gatwick like Easyjet once did. Remembering the days when Easyjet announced its first routes from London South Airport. Who would have thought then that Easyjet would end up being Gatwick’s largest airline when it was Luton’s airline. Certainly not those at LLAL and those were the days when Luton always had spare capacity but the higher yield was where the passengers wanted to fly from and they preferred Gatwick, as did the airlines. I doubt anything has really changed as Luton still has a serous image problem of its own making. Adding another potential million passengers without any terminal expansion when passengers and bears are already forced to sit on the floor won’t help matters.
Luton needs investment to its existing terminal from the airport operator to attract a more diverse selection of passengers and airlines rather than those that demand £10 tickets and then spend nothing in the terminal to save money.

There has always been a drift to Gatwick. Higher yield of catchment makes it attractive for UK originating traffic. Court Line when they took over Horizon, Monarch when ex Dan Air chief the late Alan Snudden took over. I can remember how disappointed I was in 1983 to learn that Monarch's new 757s would make just one visit a week on a Sunday on a w-pattern form Gatwick.
Luton does have an advantage of lower fuel burn on the routes from Eastern Europe where yield is less sensitive to the airport used, although with Brexit there may be less of this in the future. I would expect these to largely stay at Luton, except where they fill gaps for LGW aircraft.

You just need to look at TUI in a normal year to see where they operate from. Luton has been in a slow decline for years as Gatwick is king yet their airline is meant to be Luton based.

Aircraft that might not have got in without Covid due to a lack of slots. Business jets seem to be benefiting as well, as there was a whole stream of flights on Sunday morning that I saw while I was walking in the local park.
I have heard the night time summer ban remains in force for biz jets.

Another AZ booked for 10:50 tomorrow, with 1,000 Italian fans allowed to travel to UK, don't know if these are special charter flights or make your own way on scheduled flights.

At least two more Àlitalia charters due today and Sunday plus numerous executive movements. Will the summer night ban for biz jets be lifted on Sunday night/Monday morning?

Is it a Ban or Restriction based on QC rating & weekly movements? As it is a one off special event I suspect it will be relaxed. When England win, who will be sleeping anyhow?

I notice that Titan are operating a couple of services for Wizz today and Ryanair positioned an aircraft to Brussels from Luton yesterday to operate a service to Zadar. Crewing problems I would suggest.

Would imply worth WUK to sub charter if loads are good but crew as still on short term loan to WZZ in Eastern Europe, can't see a great increase in schedules for tomorrow on freedom day!
As far a RYR, was this a LTN based frame or one of the STN diversions which came in the other day?

What a ridiculous article. All based on figures during a pandemic. It reminds me of the story about Gloucestershire airport claiming to be the 'busiest in the UK'.... They had 2 flights a day, and it was during the Icelandic Volcanic ash grounding. The slot report for winter shows easyJet group still being the largest airline group at Luton by flights - although in terms of seats the Wizzair group is just ahead.

It is a bit rediculous, but I'm doubtful EZY will be No.1 at LTN again anytime soon. Wouldn't read too much also into the winter slot report, most airlines still don't know what they'll be doing in 6 weeks, let alone in 6 months, and most will be historics they've no need currently to hand back.
I would be wary of assuming that 2022 will be an almost 100% replica of 2019. The pandemic has already had a major effect on air traffic in Luton for almost a year and a half. We have seen smoke and must now check to see how big a fire remains
There will need to be some recalibration of future expectations at Luton. There may be more truth in the article about Wizz's position at Luton than some might wish to acknowledge at this stage

Easyjet has Gatwick while Wizz is desperate for a piece of the Gatwick cake. When that day happens those running the show at Bedfordshire International will be a little worried as the Wizz good times could be over. Just need to look at what happened with Easyjet in the early days of Gatwick and where its flights came from to see what could happen. Duplicate or replacement?
Is the Dart Luton’s secret weapon to hang on to the might of Wizz or will further financial incentives be needed? In the past those financial incentives came from the Council and were passed on by the operator. With the Council now having to bail out its airport would financial incentives from a Council that is also on life support be socially acceptable? The people of Luton will never find out so anything could happen, as yet another Council meeting went into secret session yesterday.

I suspect not but it will have more of an impact than the new down graded non stop rail service, as the trains have yet to be refurbished.
The airport doesn’t even promote the new service on their website. All very strange seeing they launched a big campaign to increase non stop services. They wanted 4 non stop trains an hour but got 2. Maybe that is the reason?

The non-stop rail journey seems such a PR exercise over the actual realism. A huge 8 mins saved on the service which stops at St Albans and Harpenden? Also, in terms of practicalities, I suspect most non native passengers at St Pancras would walk to the downstairs Thameslink platforms as opposed to the upstairs East Midland Railway platforms.
I see London Luton Airport Ltd have been trying to spin the DART on their facebook page as 'underlining our environmental credentials and commitment to get people out of their cars.' I wonder if they even believe that stuff?
