At a cost of £2.5m per second saved it is hard to justify. Even the airport operator is being paid £9m to operate it rather than the other way around. The debt will never be paid off, as it has already had a write down of £187m before it has even opened.

easyJet still messing around with Luton schedules over the winter. I've just had 4 return flights to France cancelled from Luton and moved to Gatwick as an alternative. Difficult to say whether this is continued operational issues within the company or if demand is not returning as they had hoped.

It’s not the first time I have heard that Easyjet are consolidating flights but it is always Luton passengers that get moved to Gatwick and not the other way around. I think it is going to be a very tough year ahead for Luton and Luton Rising as people cut back or get moved to Gatwick.

For many passengers Luton has all the appeal of a turd in a swimming pool. Sad but true but passengers who haven’t used Luton for years have long memories of long traffic queues to the CTA and those that have used Luton in 2019 were not always impressed with the overcrowded terminal.
LTN airport has great appeal to a lot of pax when flights to/from Luton are significantly cheaper than from any other London/Midlands airport, or there are no non-stop flights on one's route of choice at suitable times to/from other airports
Plenty of pax don't want to pay for the expensive experience that is Heathrow

Luton is always my airport of choice but for Easyjet they seem to have a preference for moving passengers from Luton to Gatwick, just like TUI. We can all speculate why.

I noted this happening in the STN thread last week in relation to Ryanair frequency reductions and routes that appear to have gone seasonal. I noticed because I was looking at my own travel plans and realised options I’d been considering were no longer there. Probably quite safe to say it’s demand related and this confirms my hypothesis it wouldn’t just be Ryanair and Stansted affected.
It isn't just EasyJet messing about.
I was due to fly RIX-LTN in August but Wizz Air emailed me to say that they had cancelled that flight. I had to rebook RIX-HEL-LHR with Finnair instead. It cost a bit more, and came with higher ground transport costs (final destination in Bedfordshire), though I wasn't too upset to get a ride on a Finnair A350. However, not impressed by Wizz Air on many levels. Major issues with 'Wizz Credits' not being honoured. I won't be booking with them again.
I did fly out later that week on LTN-DUB with Ryanair again. No issues there. I thought that I might get my first go on the Dart, but that will have to wait. Still the bendy-bus on duty for my travel date!

Thus all this does not warrant discussion really on Luton thread, things are moving about everywhere as forward bookings are analysed to see if the service us warranted.
Liz Truss seems to next PM with little Green credentials, so I wonder if the 19M will be waved through now?

Why are ‘political’ posts OK if you make them but not OK if others make them and they don’t align with your view of things or make politicians you support sound bad?
The point is relevant because another poster said Truss *may* speed through Luton’s expansion. I have pointed out, entirely correctly and factually, that Truss has held many positions and significantly departed from them. Therefore current positions cannot be relied upon.

If I talk about the Council I am taking about the owners of LTN and not the party in charge of the Council or its leader. LRT has directors from two political parties so they are all the same. I will let you guess which parties they are from, as it is not important.
Is that the same Liz Truss that was an anti-monarchy activist, a passionate remainer, a self-proclaimed “eco-warrior”, pro-civil rights, a Liberal Democrat?
