Could I gently and respectfully suggest moving discussion of a possible takeover of Easyjet by IAG to the Easyjet thread instead of the Luton thread ?

[QUOTE=Buster the Bear;11323350]easyJet are based at Luton, thus the reason I posted it here. Many hundreds of people employed at the Luton H.Q.[/QUOTE
Of course you are right to hi-lite the story. Who ever thought it was not appropriate in this forum which is about Luton Airport and it’s businesses must be short of two planks.

I agree with the above two comments. The clue is in the title, Airlines, Airports and Routes. If an event has the potential to impact the airport then it seems logical that it will be worthy of a mention.

The Dart will never be paid for, as the debt is now too high. With an impairment value of only £77m based on a build cost of £268m that is now £281m and rising, it is a financial disaster for the council taxpayers yet most have no idea what is going on, as the LRT/LBC propaganda machine is in full swing.
What is impairment?
In accounting, impairment is a permanent reduction in the value of a company asset. It may be a fixed asset or an intangible asset.
When testing an asset for impairment, the total profit, cash flow, or other benefits that can be generated by the asset is periodically compared with its current book value. If the book value of the asset exceeds the future cash flow or other benefits of the asset, the difference between the two is written off, and the value of the asset declines on the company's balance sheet.Understanding Impairment
Impairment is most commonly used to describe a drastic reduction in the recoverable value of a fixed asset. The impairment may be caused by a change in the company's legal or economic circumstances or by a casualty loss from an unforeseeable disaster.
With no opening date in sight it was stated that an update would be given next year giving 10 weeks notice meaning the best that can be hoped for now is the Spring of 2023.
Meanwhile the trains go up and down empty. All the station lights are on 24/7 while the staff and managers are being paid. Income to date is zero.
Next year the Dart will be spun into a separate company owned by LRT with its own management team. Then it will be sold off at an eye watering loss. No one has mentioned this sale but it will eventually happen as sure as night follows day.
This is what happens when financially illiterate Councillors become directors of LRT and were incapable of asking any meaningful questions. For most, financial discipline means making sure that their housing benefits can stretch to buying Nike’s for their kids.

I went through the airport the other week for the first time since August 2018. We had a short trip to AGP for a cousin's wedding.
Out on an 06:00 Ezy and the place was not too busy but I thought signage was lacking. At bag drop, Ezy were sensible and had helpers at the weigh/print kiosks but it still took some folks several goes to get it done.
We then found that, on your way upstairs, you have to cross at right angles to those just entering the building - just as before. Security was OK. Not too busy but, natch, not many chairs. There was no decent map of the gates that I could find. When sending people to gates, no indication of how long it woud take to get there. The usual long wait at the gate. We were bussed out and that was OK.
Returning about Midday, we found the passport area very busy. The system did not like my passport, so I had to queue again. This has become standard for me, I only get passed about 40% of attempts.
On getting to baggage hall, it was rammed and difficult to see the numbers of the belts. We discovered that we were at the right belt by reading the numbers on other belts. Then the monitor said that our bags would arrive in 35 minutes. We were just deciding weather to find a vending machine when one of our party saw our bags on the belt. That was less than 3 minutes after being told 35!! So we waded through the scrum to get them. We might have gone and found a place to wait and wasted all that time.
Overall, very dissapointing. The open ceilings continue the discount warehouse feel and left me feeling that LTN was now a Third Rank airport. I have been living near LTN for 38 years and used it countless times. I use it due to it's proximity but it would be nice to enjoy going there.

My local pub has spent a fortune to get that Industrial look!
My local Government has borrowed £400m at market rates to finance a 100% owned company which pays 0% back. Current estimates are the loan will cost £580m with compound interest, that with only 85,000 residents who will not all be tax payers. All that behind closed doors as well! Sounds familiar?

Yes, it was obvious that it was to save money. But the constant changes of plan, putting carparks in different places, the putting and pulling down of structures is all typical of the UK and the short term approach to infrastructure.
Going through the other week reminded me of BOD. There are two terminals. One is the old and 'regular' one and the other is the cheap shed for the LCCs. I find that acceptable because there is no pretence. You get waht you pay for. Sadly, not the case here.
As I say, I shall continue to use it because of location, very much better than STN or LGW for distance from us.

Remember you are going through the terminal that is handling around 15m passengers this year. It was 18m in 2019. The plan is to shoehorn 19m with no terminal additions if the public inquiry goes their way. Passenger comfort is seen as an inconvenience to making money not that LRT is making any but LLAOL is.

£2556 for two parents and a couple of kids for a day trip from Luton. For that money I would expect a proper airport experience. The well-heeled will be in for a shock.

With offerings to Sharm el Sheikh, Hungarda, Agadir & Marrakesh now on tap is the UK based operations getting rid of their East European roots from Luton?
As for Santa flights, hope someone like Jet2 as a friend did one and it was Air Enter. Very basic service on board. A least they won't be doing the baggage reclaim on a daytrip. Add a couple of grand and the family can do it in style with a Netjets or Air Hamburg and experience Harrods or Signature service!

Oh and young Eastern European women are general far better looking than their English counterparts but maybe I can’t say that.
But I think not one of us would have wanted all that money if we could have had our wonderful company back. Going from happy, proud and smart Go to a gloomy and downtrodden sleazy bereft of morale with the image of a backstreet takeaway kebab joint was like working for Marks and Spencer and learning on the radio news one black friday afternon that you'd just been bought out by poundland.
Families going to Lapland expect an “airport experience”? Have a day off. If so, they’re in for a shock in Scandinavia.

Under the radar this weekend was the full 7 a week and extended operating hours of connections of the Elizabeth Tube Line, Farringdon being the go to place if wanting to go to Luton Airport. Fully operational with full objectives open by May 2023.
DART open by then?
