Very logical - everyone has spent the last 9 months excluding foreigners in case they spread the virus - next year everyone will do the same for refusniks for the same reason

The Canary Islands Government has agreed to extend until 10 January the restrictive measures affecting Tenerife, which involve, among other measures, restricting entry to and exit from the island, a curfew at 10 p.m. and suspending all restaurant activity inside the premises, except for ordering takeaway food.

I can only think that the logic here is that there is still an unknown as to whether vaccinated travellers can still spread the virus around.

Well in Hong Kong, it is 21 days in a government appointed hotel (at your expense) Vaccinated or not.
You need a test before and after arrival- plus several during the 3 weeks & if you've been in the UK anytime in the preceding 2 weeks- forget it, you're not coming in.

One assumes the APAC will now have to forever adopt a policy that make N.Korea seem extremly liberal in comparrison I fail to see how they're going to get out of the corner they've backed themselves into.

It will end when Thailand, for example, has vaccinated its own population. or when it becomes clear that vaccinated people don't in fact carry the virus and spread it.

I think the likelihood of Britons (or any European) holidaying in Asia this summer is basically zero and next winter is relatively low.
Countries like Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam will first need to vaccinate a large proportion of their own population and then wait and see how well the vaccine works in terms of stopping the virus spreading and reducing any harmful effects.
When they do open up, it is likely to start with limited and controlled tourism. That means, most likely, tour groups from countries with very low infection rates and strong government controls over the virus.
Dependent on vaccination and virus prevalence rates, Europe is much more likely to open up this summer.

Perhaps worth remembering, that Thailand is a middle income country - it's not as rich as western Europe. There will likely have been a bidding war between countries over who gets early access to the Pfizer / Moderna vaccines. Thailand would not have found it easy to compete with (for example) the USA. Thailand will get access gradually but will have to wait in the queue

inOban : It will take a long time to show that those who have been vaccinated are not spreading or getting. Part of the intimidation is like the Italians who are going to compile a list of those not vaccinated AND share it with other EU countries. Oooooh, be scared, be very scared. Then, I see Ryanair advertising "Jab & Go", or something like that, Enticement into the scare factory too. Good bit though inOban is that once you have had the jab, track & trace will be a walk in the park.
With the new latest lockdown rules from GOV.UK International travel You can only travel internationally – or within the UK – where you first have a legally permitted reason to leave home. In addition, you should consider the public health advice in the country you are visiting.

Meanwhile back in the real world tomorrow gives us the following for those that think their journeys are legally permitted or have decided to travel regardless of the law.

The existing regulations and future regulations haven’t changed regarding air travel but you are correct regarding them being bought under the law from tomorrow. We will have to see if it makes any difference to travel patterns.
Interesting interview this morning on the BBC where it was hinted that further foreign travel restrictions were under review in the form of a Covid test could be required for U.K. entry.
