In this afternoons Aviation Sector Debate in the House the latest Aviation Minister Richard Court (who?) was given his first run out & assured all that in the role he is fully committed to working with the industry...
During much of the short debate BAW/IAG management were eviscerated by speakers from all sides of the house for their approach & treatment of staff.

Quarantine from Saturday if you come from mainland Portugal. Hungary, French Polynesia and Reunion also added to the list
Sweden taken off the list.
As far as the revolving door of Government Ministers is concerned, part of my job many moons ago was to be part of a team trying to influence politicians and ministers on various aviation matters. It was a matter of some annoyance when Ministers changed - usually once a year in those days - and we had to start again almost from scratch.
As Sir Robin Day said to John Nott - you're just a here today and gone tomorrow politician. Enjoy

It is not a political post at all, it is a comment on this govts lack of managerial skill. 5 Ministers in the space of a few years ? If you were a company with 5 CEO in that time frame what would your shareholders think of the management of the company ? I would just like to see some form of management in the UK from somebody in charge, other than crisis type being currently undertaken. This is not just a comment on Bojo and this team, it is an indictment of the political class currently serving the UK. To have that many ministers in so short a time is ridiculous, what chance have they got to get in control of their brief, or even know their staff by name, it's a joke, and if you are in the aviation sector I would suggest it is currently not a very funny one either.

The Govt since election is not so much lurching from crises to crises as driving down a road hitting pothole after pothole with each one bigger than the next.
Brexit is not so much on the horizon as being the horizon, zero planning being done because most businesses are still trying to get grips with returning from Covid lockdown.
Bricks and mortar retail is dead with many pension funds looking at big holes because their previous "safe" property investments are gone, amazon and online retailers booming who pay minimum wage and thousands of delivery drivers on self employed contracts barely making a living wage.
Aviation is dead because no one is travelling yet Govt has zero clue about how to plug the gaps in UK aviation taxation shortfall. Pre Covid to end of March 20 it was heading for £4 billion, this year it will be lucky to be £300 million. UK already highly borrowed but now owes more than Total GDP and that is before any Brexit impact. But lets have another lockdown when we have no clue what is happening and force the media to comply.

Came through LHR T2 last night - usually enjoy coming through T2 as it is spacious and rarely busy. Apart from yesterday. It was horrendous. Social distancing to get through border control was non-existant putting passengers and staff at risk. I've never spent as much time getting through to the eGates as I did yesterday (45 minutes).
Many passengers are turning up without having filled the passenger locator form... surely this should be a prerequisite before departure? These are people who also need to quarantine for 14 days (LOL).
LHR need to get a grip. Any chance at least another terminal may be reopening soon - T3 being the obvious candidate?

Denmark somehow escapes being put on the UK's quarantine list, making the Danish tourist board happy. Slovenia is less fortunate

My short flight yesterday on a network carrier had connectors from all of the world... I was sat next to someone from Sao Paulo and in front of me someone from the US.
Despite quarantines everywhere, over 3.5m enplanements occured in the month of July 2020 alone in the UK. A small number admittedly, but we will get out of this.
