I've heard rumors that Coventry's future might be in jeopardy (again). Can anyone shed any light?

Saw a brief snippet on BBC tonight, implied potential to be 'sold off' for housing. I'd be surprised...!

When you say BBC tonight, do you mean you saw that in the last couple of days? I was hoping to find some reference on the internet but can't.

The article on BBC West Midlands evening news last night was about Wellesbourne Mountford not Coventry.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00...pisodes/player Evening News, about 13 minutes in. I believe this program will removed from BBC iPlayer after the 29th of October at which point the link will be useless.

Indeed, it was Wellesbourne, apologies - i heard the end of a snippet at the start of the 10pm news, with the words warwickshire and houses, put 2 and 2 together and made 73.

Though, perhaps, that may have been the source of the rumour..!

Planning application going in next week for a Gigafactory on the site. Seems to be backed by all parties with the airport to close

Coventry airport is owned by Regional & City Airports Ltd - part of the Rigby Group. They also own Bournemouth, Exeter and Norwich airports. I would imagine that, at the commercial level, there is far more money to be made puting a vast factory on the site than collecting a few landing fees and hangar rents. Very sad as I have flown in there, on and off, for 40 years................

Will be interesting to see how long the battery gold rush lasts. Also in the new new lithium mines in the hills and dales.

I can remember Ace Freighter Lockheed Constellations parked up and more recently the Aviation Museum. Is the Museum still there?

Yes - and it's also present still on the artists impression of the gigafactory above.

Having spent a vast majorrity of my working life based on or around CVT, started with Air Atlantique, eneded with Coventry Airport Handling, it a sad to see its days as an operational airfield potentialy coming to an end.

I'd rather both stayed open. However, if one of the two would have to close, for me it would make more commercial sense to close Wellesbourne.

Rigby has sold it off, I think that was his plan in the 1st place ...Since building the giant warehouses on the other side of the airfield the ILS has gone and so has Radar, now it's just a question of time ... Another nail in the coffin.

Baginton residents always wanted it closed, Well now they will have a massive factory build on the site with lorries 24/7. Talk about turkeys voting for Xmas
