How do you satisfy Branson's return on his shareholding if you don't want to pay him a licence fee for using the Virgin brand?

Pre-pack administration into a new airline that doesn't use the Virgin brand - or does for a £1 fee etc.?

Either way Branson's investment is now worthless and he may not receive anything in the future for the use of a Virgin name. I'm not sure why he would bother.

Does the Virgin 'brand' still have the same appeal as it first did is another question? When Virgin launched it was something special, now, it is just another airline as far as I am concerned.
No axe to grind, their success or failure is immaterial to me and my feelings about RB are neutral. Obviously if they do fail I feel sorry for all the staff, but, at the risk of being slaughtered here if you want job security the airline business isn't really for you is it?

Is the VS royalty really the difference between the airline being profitable or not ? If it were wouldn’t SRB give them a break ? I would suggest it is more structural(by definition managed) not right size, shape and cost base if you cannot make money at the top or near to pay of the economic cycle.

And interesting that the new Virgin Australia v.2 is to switch to a 787 fleet when they can be sourced #convenient

I can only find Winter 19/20
LGW-MCO 6 per Week
MAN-MCO 6 per Week

and Summer 18
LGW-MCO 10 per Week
BFS-MCO 2 per Week
GLA-MCO 3 per Week
MAN-MCO 8 per Week

I know it’s not the dates you asked but hope it helps in some way and someone else can fill the gaps for the dates you asked

I was there on a trip in June/July '18 and the day we departed there were 5 744's on the ground together - I think LGWx2, MANx2 and GLA (with some frame-swopping between bases going on). Also 2 BA 777's and a TCX 330. To think that has all reduced to 0 currently

GLA-MCO operated November to January 1xweekly in Winter 19/20 and was 2xweekly in Summer 18, rising to 4xweekly mid June-Mid July and Mid October for school holidays

Out of interest, what was the Vegas schedule out of MAN last Summer and Winter?

I'm still shocked that's down to zero.

I think the record was 6 x VS 744's on the deck at MCO last summer - a pal from Virgin posted a photo on his FBook.

In my day we had 3 at MCO one very hot late afternoon (all Classics) 2 x LGW and another one had diverted into MCO from MIA due big thunderstorms.

There's profit, and there's "profit". The latter for the published accounts and the taxman. If Virgin Atlantic had really lost money overall over the years based at what is popularly regarded as the biggest O&D market in the world, they would have just sold off all their slots long ago. Paying a BVI-based obscure organisation for "use of brand" is just the start of it.

Same, for example, on BA's domestics out of Heathrow. These have published accounts showing a loss for decades. Really, eating up all those valuable slots ? Well yes, if a BA fare of say £500 from Edinburgh to New York, via Heathrow, is allocated £1 to the domestic sector and £499 to the transatlantic, so possibly half the planeload is being carried for free. Why divide it this way? Well, the UK government is regularly lobbied to put VAT on domestic flights. Overall international VAT rules prevent doing it on internationals, but a few European countries do it on domestics. However, if the flights are shown anyway as loss-making that strengthens the case of saying do that and the service will be withdrawn, and the government will get the blame.

The 1 to go (VXLG) is due in MAN at 16:44, for what could be the last ever landing at MAN of a VS 744

Why exactly are they sending the B744 fleet to MAN?
If it’s simply for storage, one would have thought PIK, NQY, DSA or similar would have been more likely?

End of leases apparently going to do the engine swaps paperwork reconciling and such with all aircraft in same location, before going off to rest in the sand .

Why Manchester and not their big hangar at Gatwick well I don’t know - Could it be they intend to close that and terminate the lease and rent payments perhaps ?

Anyone know why G-VINE is currently en-route to Ciudad Real Airport? I'm aware this airport has reopened and has a lot of apron space.

They have announced that they will delay resuming passenger flights until at least August due to the quarantine restrictions from next month.
