A non event really! I don’t have the exact facts but presume crew were aware that any protracted vectors and/or delays would have meant landing with less than alternate fuel, hence they informed ATC. Toronto has 5 runways so no real issues. This happens all the time in aviation and barely warrants breaking news, where crews decide based on information at hand that they simply commit to their destination and disregard their alternates!
plus the HiFly 380 debacle going on now with Norwegian suffering huge delays with JFK not accepting the ULA aircraft as they are too busy its not a good summer for anyone in Lo-co Ops, or crewing nor pax handling - thankfully I am retired now - but beggars belief some of the things that have been going on....did no one think to ask first or imagine the consequences of using clapped out old equip ???
my italics highlighted that I personally feel this is not a non event but kyleRB who works for them as flightdeck crew seems to think it is and was not too bothered it seems and shrugged it off as such - I go on to add that no carrier wants any potentially seen safety critical event on social media blasted around
hope this clarifies my irony
regards

The crew landed with their final reserve and alternate fuel intact and as such this was a non event, technically that’s not even debatable! If you want to sensationalise everything then it is an event! Happy? Jeez this happens multiple times every single day in the airline world!

That woud probably have been in an A319 which doesn’t require the same reserves and diversion fuel as an A321.
Basic fuel planning requires landing with final reserve (30mins) and diversion fuel.
It is quite legal to commit to an airport and use the diversion fuel but you must try and land with fina reserves. If it looks as though you are going to land with less than final reserves then a Mayday is called

`PAE arrived STN this AM & directly from the manufacturer not via Tallinn as usual.
To Diamond Hangar.
A timely delivery as IAD due to commence from STN 22.8.
The current 2 STN based Neo`s over EWR/BOS & YYZ have generated remarkable time keeping in direct contrast to the B757 debacle at commencement.

Not content with their ‘seat of the pants’ operation while waiting for the A321’s to arrive this summer, next summer they intend to do that same with the B737-max9 at Brussels next summer. New flights to Newark, Boston and Washington from March.

Washington starts tomorrow with a live broadcast from Bigjet . Tv on Facebook at about 1500.
I think given all the ups and downs and cancellations and delays in the early days, things have been running very smoothly, and it will be nice to see Washington, Boston and New York all departing from Stansted tomorrow.

Beat me to it daz211...
Yes IAD tomorrow & yes it is attracting attention in the US as I read a mention in an article there recently concerning new services to the US,with STN being described as ** (forget the number quoted) miles from London`s Financial Centre..a great & positive locator I thought.
PRI`s 5th NEO example in the fleet has entered service STN/YYZ this evening.
Things are running remarkably smoothly with the NEO`s...
STN`s Toronto this evening airborne & is estimating YYZ 40 mins early.
& New York this evening airborne & is estimating EWR just 12 mins late.
