Quote......Our airline partner, Loganair, has taken the difficult decision to suspend its air link from Carlisle Lake District Airport to Dublin Airport from 23 March and until 31 May.

Loganair (www.loganair.co.uk) has strongly advised that its affected customers manage their booking through its website as the company is experiencing exceptionally high call volumes into its call centres.

System wide reduction

“From the end of next week, we will be implementing an emergency timetable, which will reduce our operations from around 214 to 95 scheduled flights each weekday – a cut of 55%. We expect this to be a temporary reduction and we are implementing this until the end of May but may have to extend that timescale as the situation continues to develop.”

Withdraw from the Rail & Civils business during the course of FY21. This business was impacted by continuingcosts on a legacy contract and is unlikely to generate an appropriate return for shareholders given the risks associatedto it;
So, what does this mean for the terminal/HQ building? Already being rumoured that Loganair aren't returning.

The way I read it, they've got the land, they don't need the airport anymore.

It makes very gloomy reading.

I supported the Loganair flights a number of times between July and until lockdown - even getting to be on 'hello again' terms with the hosties. It's a real shame. I still think SEN was the wrong airport (it needed LCY really to be competitive on journey times with the train) and a codeshare with EI on DUB too. And my dreams of a KLM link with AMS are on record...

The airfield is NOTAM'd closed until 20 August, no indication when it will re-open. Only flying is by residents with out of hours exemptions.

Any further news re a Carlisle re opening?

Aviation taking a massive hit.Airports like this were always going to suffer..but post COVID..it’s not just the smaller ones in fear?

Nobody knows and we can but speculate.

Those in the know..how does Stobarts and their problems affect Carlisle?

Stobart invested in a distribution centre. The terminal was never a going concern even in the “good days” and was just a ruse to get planning permission for their distribution centre.

Is the airport still open for GA?

Airfield is NOTAM'd closed until 20 August. Only residents with exemption certificates should be operating.

Airfield still closed until 20 August and Stobart have now sold Stobart Rail. Will there still be a use for the new HQ building which includes the terminal?

Sadly..it was always doubtful this venture would ever work.

With the onset of COVID 19 and connected problems to all industries..it’s come earlier than most expected?

Still a great little light aviation airport.

To be fair, figures on BHD and DUB were decent, and SEN was picking up. Covid to blame though
