Links are perfect by car and free car park. Believe there is also a mini bus. Signage no problem both ways from the A689.

Extract from today's News and Star https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/1...gency-landing/
A spokesperson for Loganair said: "Loganair flight LM635 from Carlisle and Dublin returned to Carlisle this morning shortly after take-off as a result of a fault on the left-hand engine. The Saab 340 aircraft with 15 customers and three crew members aboard landed safely and normally at Carlisle with emergency services in attendance as a precautionary measure.
"Today's services between Carlisle and Dublin have unfortunately been cancelled as a result of this issue, and customers will be offered alternative flights to and from Dublin with ground transport. Later flights today between Carlisle and Belfast City and Carlisle and London Southend will operate as normal using a replacement aircraft which is being flown into Carlisle to take over the services whilst an engineering inspection on the first aircraft takes place.

CAA stats are out for July.
CAX - SEN: 613 passengers
CAX - BHD: 783 passengers
I make it 16 rotations to Southend and 20 to Belfast during July after the opening on the 4th - so an average of 19 and 20 passengers per flight.

For a start-up route to a previously unserved destination I would have been looking for a load factor of around 60% in the first month of operation and they're both very close to that.

Talking to someone within Loganair who initially helped with the start up, they are pleased with the loading especially on the Belfast and Dublin routes. Slightly disappointed with the Southend but early days, no one is worried and time will tell

Carlisle Instrument Approaches
The challenge will come mainly December thru to February with lowering cloud bases and no ILS.
Siberian high pressure systems would be the answer for long periods of time.

I flew one way SEN-CAX the other day. 16 got off from CAX (mostly in suits), 16 of us headed north (mostly older folk going to lakes). The FA said loads were dropping off on the route now it’s heading out of peak summer but that the last few weeks and school holidays had been good. So we’ll see what the stats say.
There looked like a decent number of people waiting to board the next leg to Belfast.

I think it varies, the morning I travelled the CAX service had more on board than GLA but the inbound GLA was busiest of the three LM arrivals
