Given Stobarts record on this venture, maybe you make your own luck?

your correct they are the same vintage. Only 3 of the SF3’s currently in Loganair’s fleet were produced after the leased aircraft was.

I understand the point you're making but I doubt whether it is in Stobart's control. It is Loganair, who have decided to go down this road of paying another operator to provide the service, and I assume that they are contractually at liberty to do so.

Now, I reckon Loganair are smart enough to be able to cancel the contract without too much pain if they deem it necessary. This way they don't have the problem of having an aircraft and their own people to worry about if the routes can't be made to pay.

Also, if they're not sweating on the success or otherwise on these routes from CAX, they can put the ball in Stobart's court if the latter wishes to see commercial aviation continuing.

Hopefully, the venture will prove at least viable, then everyone will be happy.

Below info taken from the facebook page for your information............

We will have details of the shuttle service on the website before launch but we can inform you that pick up from Carlisle will be an hour and a half prior to flight departure times. The shuttle from the airport to the train station will leave 15 minutes after flight arrival time. It will be free both ways!

Quicker by train to London at a little over 3 hours while another train and a 50 minute rail journey has to be undertaken at Southend to reach London. Pointless air route.

Pointless in your opinion LTNman, the passenger take up will prove if you’re right or wrong

As with all such routes, it depends how many people are travelling to central London itself and how many to other areas of Essex or the east end of London.

Can you imagine the field day the Press will have, turning up to report and photograph this new dawn for CAX only to find a 30 year old 'Renter' on the tarmac
I dont think it's anything to do with confidence, Loganair's fleet is stretched and they've done what any airline does in these circumstances (like BA at Gatwick and Heathrow with the likes of PrivatAir and Air Belgium).

If there is to be a bus, especially if it's a free bus, perhaps Carlisle airport or Loganair could advertise the fact on their website and provide some details about this ? Expecting potential passengers to phone the airport to get details of the bus is not sensible.

As someone who lives near London, I'm thinking of buying a ticket on the Carlisle-Southend route but am put off by the idea that without details of any public transport start date or schedule, a 10 mile taxi trip to Carlisle centre will probably be in the region of £30 each way, making the train look rather more appealing instead

£30 for 10 miles? That's extreme. I just took a 11 mile taxi ride in Essex and it was £16.30p.

Don’t see your point re age, NCL put up with ancient Jet2 733’s for years🙁 The aircraft are either fit to fly or they are not. Also Loganair aren’t the only uk airline making use is Estonian props, I was at SOU a few weeks ago & the GLA flight was operated by a ATR/Dash 8 of “Snowbird” or something like that apologies re detail, I not a “reggie”!
