no not from HiFly this year at least anyway - apparently was suppose to be an A330-900neo from HiFly with 418 seats however due to late deliveries from airbus it isn’t available as early as Jet2 would like. Maybe 2020 - who knows.

How far in advance are J2 jets assigned their respective itinerary? I'm flying NCL to ACE on Jan 20 & would like to find out what 737 I'll be relaxing on.

You’ll be relaxing on a B737-800.

I'd flown the older 737 (300's) loads with J2 so a newer jet is a bit of a relief. Not that there was anything wrong with the older models, perfectly air worthy.

The Jet2 Check-in opens from 28 days before departure so it would be from them. I would assume the aircraft would be assigned around that time as well, assuming the a/c doesn't go tech. As for which one, unless you know someone who works in the relevent area at Jet2, you'll just have to wait until fly day.

You might be surprised to find that some of the 300’s are actually younger than some of the 800’s, it’s amazing what is perceived to what is actually the case.

hole you enjoy your flight regardless of which aeroplane you are travelling on.

Jet2 are to take delivery of their 100th aircraft tomorrow.
https://www.ttgmedia.com/news/news/j...aircraft-16724

Report indicates no immediate plans for new routes in Summer 2020 (they say 2019 in the report, but is a typo) and focus on growth at existing bases

The new A/c G-JZBS is due in the UK tomorrow. Anyone know if it's LBA or MAN bound?

That should put that 'rumour' to bed. For now? Lol.
I wonder if EMA is going to see increased activity?
From my location its the same journey time, car parking is WAY cheaper than BHX, and, as I'm not looking for a Retail Experience, I can live with the facilities at EMA.

I suspect this is the Belfast press making a mountain out of a molehill. I’d be very surprised to see A220’s, they aren’t big enough. I’m sure that he would have been playing his cards very close to his chest and would have replied to a question about A220’s with a generic response saying words to the effect of, “all options will be considered” blah blah blah.

That was my impression too. There was a faint rumour a few years ago before they placed the NG order that they had a quote for E195's as they were linked directly with the 300 replacement, however the B738NG was chosen because it allowed the extra seats which Jet2 needed to grow.
If they wanted to find a direct size replacement, they'd have picked up some B737-700's, and flown then for 10-15 years.

I could realistically see them taking some 2nd hand B788's, since they already lease A332's in, they're used to the larger aircraft. Would also provide as a replacement to the B752's that'll be due by the mid 2020's

The problem with that, is where they would find any 2nd hand B788's.

Why would you want a first-hand B788, for this type of flying, let alone a second-hand B788?

Still trying to work out how TUI make money using a B788 on Manchester to Palma - there is more efficient ways of doing it.

The economics of operating 1x 325+ seat aircraft doing 2 short haul flights a day on high demand routes with 2 sets of crew must work out better than utilising 2x 189 doing 2 flights per day with 4 sets of crews. As a holiday company you also need to look at whats going on in resort. It's TUI Holidays that needs the flights, not TUI Airways. So one set of transfers, check-in at Airport and Hotels, reps etc etc.

How long are the 757's due to be around for? That will be a cut in capacity and also restricts the US flights.

Could Airbus be pitching a combined A223/A321neo /A330neo fleet to Jet2? It would provide a good spread of capacity, but seems complex.
