After the first batch of departures in the morning, there's not much going on until the inbounds appear, especially in the winter. I wouldn't have thought finding training slots is that difficult.

Possibly not. However, Leeds has got the worst runway in the world. Not somewhere you want to be trying your first landing in an 800.

NQY is as long as the Yellow Brick Road - 2700 plus. Plenty of get out of trouble room and a GA's not going to disturb any folks in a housing estate underneath. ;-)

why

Just reading about Circuit training , although now getting busier though mainly Cargo traffic seeing how Ryanair seem to be training at DSA, along with queasy jet , Would it not be a better option.
They handle up to the largest aircraft on the planet .
So anything Jet 2 Flies could be handled with ease.
Granted they'd end up being put on a stack out of the way whilst Wizzair or whomever comes in , but it would be the logical choice.
Whilst it is still relatively ' quiet'.
It has all the latest Navaids and unlike LBA or DTV isn't affected by WX very often .
( Or if it's the Runway length issue what about Huy, isn't that near enough LBA length ?).

Jet2 are frequent visitors to PIK as well, taking advantage of the relative quiet of the airspace.

Donny is one of our options for circuit training. It’s all down to the weather and availability, Donny seems to be Valdermort Airlines choice of circuit training airfield and I have regularly found that Donny is booked up and therefore unavailable for us.

"Valdermort Airlines" ?! LMAO!! Thank you, JFP, for brightening this dull day.
Maybe "Atmsosphere Interwotsit" will base their circuit training there too.

Excuse my ignorance but that Airline wouldn't by any chance have a Harp on its tail run by a guy with a Target on his head ;-)?

Oh, you mean these guys... Atmosphere intercontinental,

I prefer the name "Atmospheric Incontinence". Always a great read to cheer yourself up

Quite so, and barking mad, of course. With your new name for them, one could be forgiven for p---ing yourself laughing?

Maybe not the best for base training on anything, but haven't seen it featured on National Geographic yet. It's not that bad....

Not like Lukla then, with a brick wall at the end of the runway!
Brings a whole new meaning to the Training Captain expression - "this will be a full stop."

According to Jethro's today, Jet2 have acquired a further 5 second hand B737-800's (G-DRTP, G-DRTR, G-DRTS, G-DRTT & G-DRTV), all ex Primera aircraft, due prior to summer 2019.

So 13 second hand and 1 new B737-800 still to join the fleet before summer 2019 now!!

Bit of both. They retired a few of the B733's this year, leaving either 11/ 12 in the fleet, which look to only be in BFS, EMA, LBA and NCL at present. NCL may also be an all B738 base from Feb (can anyone confirm?)
The last New B738 is due in January. This and the other 2nd hand's will help with expansion, mainly in MAN/BHX/STN i'd guess

Well also per Jethros the proposed acquisition of G-DRTO (ex TC-SNY) has been cancelled so one of them will be to replace this I imagine.
