You will note that Jet2 has steered wisely well clear of Egypt and Tunisia.

Only now we just see TUI after 4 years recommence packages to Sharm, and EZY I gather will also start flights again, but hey presto the Gulf and ME again erupts which could spill over once more with security issues.

Jet2 are not daft.

There are no UK charters to Luxor for a long time now - TUI UK stopped theirs.

The simple answer is, we don’t need to take the risk. We have enough to do with developing the destinations that we have, and expanding the bases we have to serve those destinations with a suitable frequency.

Given the escalation of trouble in Iraq/Iran, Turkey has already said there could be attacks on tourists in the region. It bound to make people nervous about travelling to the Middle East.

If the situation in the The Middle East deteriorates and UK Gov revises its Turkey guidance from 'be vigilant' to 'do not travel' it will be I suspect commercialy very bad news for Jet2 who've put a lot of expansion into that program.

It would be a blow, but Jet2 have massively (and cleverly) expanded their Greek flying program with many new routes with 220 flights a week next summer, and if Turkish tourism suffers then it is Greece's gain.

I don't see that happening. The Iran border is right over the other side of the country, and even with ISIS camped on the Turkish border with Syria, people still traveled to Turkey. Plus, no one wants war, least of all Iran.

Luckily for most travel companies, the press has now turned its attention to Prince Harry and Meghan. Therefore taking the attention away from the situation in the Middle east.

Whilst growing their own routes, Jet2 are mainly now filling in for the capacity which was lost from the loss of Thomas Cook.

From experience Turkey's tourism to both the beach resorts, and Istanbul sadly does get affected with downturns in bookings when security and unrest occur not just in Turkey, but also in the surrounding ME and the Gulf regions.
Folk do get nervous and will stay away and book elsewhere - the past few summers have shown that with 50% down in 2015 and 2016.
Few Western tourists now visit IST compared to 5 or so years ago.
UK Cruise ships no longer call in to Istanbul (a Jewel of a city to visit) nor also at Kusadasi (for Ephesus) - The UK cruise lines have simply pulled all their ships out of Turkey.

But Brexit uncertainty saw a huge rise in summer 2019 bookings to Turkey BUT that was lost with the loss of 800000 future bookings due to the collapse of Thomas Cook.

Jet2 obviously hope to pick up plenty of that potential business for summer 2020 but Turkey still remains a volatile destination.

Well FWIW THE Flying Hi's have just put their money down on a Bodrum BJV holiday for May, forsaking Spain and the Canaries.
Just about as far from ME hotspots as you can get without being in Kos. Lol.

Flying Hi's
And the SS sprogs have just booked a Jet2 holiday to Bodrum from BHX for July.
Price and hotel quality beat Cyprus hands down.

BHX Summer 2020

The Summer Birmingham Timetable shows 14 aircraft peak season now, 8 x B737's, 6 x A321's, however one of the A321's doesn't start until August, May to July is showing a B752 instead, rumoured to be a Titan aircraft.

It's been mentioned that 3 A321's will be the Jet2 airframes, 1 will be SmartLynx, as for the other 2 A321's, your guess is as good as mine, will they be Jet2? SmartLynx? Titan? or HiFly? or another airline?
