Is a ER3 permitted to operate into LCY? If it is then maybe they could use the 30 seat ER3 already in there fleet.

Yes. The ER3 can operate into LCY. Luxair previously used it as did JetMagic. The ER4 is not permitted into LCY.

Having gone through LCY most weeks it seems in recent times (to the extent of recognising the BA pilots), one of the greatest challenges is the "Common User" check in machines in the terminal. I've written about these before, but they never seem to improve, despite regularly having new hardware. Although all checked in on the BA website, with the "Collect boarding pass at airport" option, go the machine and enter a BA exec card and it says it needs "additional information", despite this all being on file. Flight details, scan passport, wait - and it says "can't finish - go to desk". Try the next machine, the same. Join the tedious queue, eventually get to show card, and the operator can instantly produce the boarding pass, no issue.

Check in staff also say "Oh those machines, some days they are OK, other days no".

So, I'm coming through again tomorrow morning. Here's a challenge for the LCY IT team - will it work ?

I always avoid them. Either print at home or use the appropriate App to store on phone. Frequently I have both!

Apologies if it's already been mentioned but BA are to start a 2x weekly route to San Sebastian in northern Spain with an E190 during the peak of summer 2020
Air Nostrum previously operated a route between Luton and San Sebastian in summer of 2016 and 2017

not sure of figures but anecdotally, I’ve taken the Warsaw flight around 6 times last year and every time Economy was completely full. Business varied. I flew the first flight and it was full in J. Other times there have been a couple of empty seats in Business and Premium.

I see Loganair are doing training circuits with an ATR-42 today at LCY. Is this for replacement of the Saab on the Isle of Man BA contract, or some new service ?

I would imagine it's to train Loganair pilots who from 1st Feb will be operating the IOM route for BA and for the Dundee flights from end of March.

Shame to lose Flybe and good luck to their crews with the future. Their only routes I found of value were Belfast and Aberdeen, the latter disappeared a while back, but both seemed to have decent loads and yields. But they did run rather a lot of oddballs that came and went; how well did the few Edinburgh or Amsterdam flights do up against BA.

There seem to be some peak period slots available now, though I can't see anyone moving in before the virus hoo-hah dies down.

In 2019 the Belfast City route saw 210,936 passengers from London City, do we think BA Cityflyer might take on the route,

A route BA CityFlyer previously operated so they might not want to open it again, regardless of passenger numbers

Indeed. In fact Belfast from LCY wasn't even operated by CityJet, but under contract for them by Scot Airways on the Dornier 328 prop aircraft. Flybe had a major base in Belfast and thus customer base across Northern Ireland which would have been difficult for BA to challenge, but obviously gone now.

LCY really does have all it’s eggs in the British Airways basket now.
Saw today that the new stands 25/26 are now in use wth 27/28 in place. But with flybe gone, will BA CityFlyer replace those lost volumes?

I'd say BA Cityflyer, Aer Lingus regional or City jet or possibly Loganair. Definitely agree its viable.
