Came through yesterday at 7am. Apart from noticing all the works on the new taxiway, the new structure in front of gates 1/2, etc, noticed that :
- The traffic jam from the terminal frontage area stretched solidly right down the airport approach, out past the jet centre, and back over the Connaught Bridge, dislocating the main roads of the area as well.
- Inside the terminal the queue for security had been extended by zig-zagging Tensa barriers in the area at the top of the escalators, and was all filled. 25 minutes to just to get through. Who remembers "10 minute check in" ?
- Several BA aircraft on the remote stands between the terminal and the Jet Centre, being used as Bus Stands.
The throughput from some of the landside facilities doesn't quite seem to mesh with the expansion plans currently under way.

A few weeks ago when I was travelling, they were checking boarding passes before they would let you in the terminal because it was so busy. However, I didn't yet have my boarding pass as I needed to check something with LOT. The staff at the door were not remotely friendly. I've found the old LCY has gone and now its rude staff and long queues. On the plus side my luggage from WAW-LCY arrived very quickly on sunday considering last time took about half an hour (how is that even possible in such a small airport).

Whilst I'm open to the idea of free speech, these clowns need to get real and take their frustrations out elsewhere. Whatever damage has been done to the planet is done - by humans or not - and causing disruption to flights at any airport is not going to make the slightest bit of difference to their case.
I say if these protesters are arrested, and they should be, they should be banned from flying for at least 5 years, maybe more because at the end of the day, do these people really not use aircraft themselves or do they walk everywhere ?
I heard over 800 arrests have been made. Charge them, fine them Ł5k each and put the money towards the cost of policing them.
And, get a job too whilst at it.

Got to love the logic of these people. Protest climate change by causing mass congestion outside the airport where cars are sat idling, and by having aircraft taxiing about the airport dropping off “disruptive” pax and circling over London waiting for a stand to free up.
The Act enforces rule 123 of the Highway Code, which states: "You must not leave a vehicle's engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road." Doing this can incur a Ł20 fixed-penalty fine under the Road Traffic (Vehicle Emissions) Regulations 2002.

Bit difficult to get a job now they have a criminal record, a matter of public record any HR department will discover. I don't think any of us here would employ them.
I wonder if all the eco-protesters, first year students etc egged on by the loud-mouthed lot who know to stand slightly behind them so they in turn don't get nicked, are aware that they are just putting all their future job opportunities and expenditure on further education down the toilet.

Security were too busy looking for pots of yoghurt in hand luggage to take notice of dozens of protesters gathering outside.
Someones head indeed needs to roll, especially when LCY was hit several years ago by protestors who arrived by boat. Muppets.

I did notice when I came through LCY a couple of days ago that the two PCs with machine guns were stationed on the exit side of security, heading into the shops area. Quite how that could be an effective position for them escaped me.

I sincerely hope that if I should ever be a defendant in court that I don't get this crowd as judge or jury. I think within 5 minutes the judge would be pulling a piece of black cloth from their pocket !
