Interesting that the Air Antwerp flights operate under the KLM designator (KL211/213/215). Available for 60 EUR one way from ANR.

Notably four out of those five frequency increases are my regular LCY routes. I wonder if it's me supporting them

Came back from Berlin (August midweek) last week and it was all seats taken (and apparently same on the other two rotations that day). Seems to be doing well. This route was my first flight ever from LCY, early 1990s, when Conti-Flug ran a 146 to Berlin Tempelhof. What a shame that inner city, LCY-equivalent, airport at the other end got closed down.

I believe Eurowings LHR-TXL is being dropped for the winter, giving BA LHR/LCY-TXL to themselves

Indeed, Eurowings is calling it quits on TXL-LHR. Although there is also easyJet to LGW from TXL and SXF, to LTN from SXF and Ryanair to STN from SXF. Plenty to choose from. SXF-LGW/STN sees almost 1m pax a year alone, btw.

Not only that - Tegel airport, the second best alternative to Tempelhof that is currently served by BA, will at some point, maybe even as soon as 2020, close and flights will move to Berlin Brandenburg International even further away from the city centre.

Colleague was on Easy, out LTN-SXF, back TXL-LGW, except Easy cancelled the late evening return rotation on that with just a couple of hours' notice, stranding everyone in Berlin for the night. Dreadfully handled. He ended up coming back with me on BA to LCY the next day. Another convert to LCY

Having a spare hour early morning, I hopped on the Berlin Underground to old Tempelhof and took some photos. The old, vast streetfront terminal building (LCY must be envious, it's way larger than theirs) is still nicely maintained outside but seemingly empty within. The Underground station entrance is just on the street corner, next to the kebab shop. For anyone who remembers going from LCY to Tempelhof on Conti-Flug all those years ago, it's still the same.

Not exactly on topic but about 20 years ago I visited Tempelhof and what was sitting there but the Lufthansa JU52 - ah the nostalgia.

I think a move to SEN is far more likely myself but what do I know?

Quite a lot, to be fair. It’s clear that LCY have decided to go the extra mile to secure this route Why? Well I’m guessing that they fancy their chances of securing over time all the Loganair routes (CAX excepted) to SEN. Perhaps with the current investment they would now be prepared to accommodate 50 seat aircraft arriving on a regular basis at an acceptable cost to the operator. After all, where would the the majority of punters from Scotland and Northern Ireland prefer to arrive?

Currently Gates 1 and 2 are closed off and indeed boarded off for the works, which puts a lot of pressure on in peak periods.

EDI and BHD are the money makers apparently so unless they get a mass influx of slots at LHR I can’t see these going anywhere anytime soon.

Is the building work on stand 1 a permanent piece of the redevelopment? Stands 1 and 2 are being built over for....shopping? It's shops isn't it? It's always shops.

nope. Temporary outbound baggage facility while the terminal redevelopment/expansions continues. It’s expected the temporary structure will be in place for 2 years.

Its 100% not a permanent structure and is made of bolt together steel with a toughened fabric/material stretched cover

not connected to the terminal as the airside road remains in place between it and existing building

Came through yesterday at 7am. Apart from noticing all the works on the new taxiway, the new structure in front of gates 1/2, etc, noticed that :

- The traffic jam from the terminal frontage area stretched solidly right down the airport approach, out past the jet centre, and back over the Connaught Bridge, dislocating the main roads of the area as well.
- Inside the terminal the queue for security had been extended by zig-zagging Tensa barriers in the area at the top of the escalators, and was all filled. 25 minutes to just to get through. Who remembers "10 minute check in" ?
- Several BA aircraft on the remote stands between the terminal and the Jet Centre, being used as Bus Stands.

The throughput from some of the landside facilities doesn't quite seem to mesh with the expansion plans currently under way.
